It's nothing but the National Spelling Bee from Washington DC.
Who the hell cares.

Maybe the thousands of kids that were in local Bees this year???

Good for them.
Network TV has found something else to exploit. Two years from now spelling bees will no longer be a "hot" item and it will be back on some minor cable channel.

Probably to get a reaction . . . seems like it worked.
Since so many people here are obsessed with the musical I thought they might be interested in seeing the real thing. Pardon the hell out of me for trying to inform you of something that might bring some enjoyment to people. If you are not interested, don't watch. I am sure there is a repeat of Welcome Back Kotter on TV-land. Jeesh...
Sueleen, I, for one, LOVE your humor!!! I won't be watching this Bee, but thanks for the chuckle.

Sueleen, thanks for the reminder! I, at least, appreciate that you posted. :) I'm excited to watch it live and I know lots of others who are, too. BTW, riv, spelling bees have always been cool! For those who you who have never seen the documentary Spellbound, go rent it.

It was the thread title (misleading) and the fact all the words are in caps (why the shouting about it?).
I'm watching right now on some sort of sports or news channel.
The musical is SOOOOOO spot on!
I've been a fan of spelling bees WAY before the musical, and yes, the musical is spot on many ways. The regular rounds are on ESPN right now while the Championship rounds will be live tonight on ABC.

how was the thread title misleading? it says "spelling bee on tv tonight" which is exactly the truth.
I actually feel bad for the kids as if they already don't have enough to be nervous about.

How was it misleading? She said the Spelling Bee is on TV tonight, which is true. She never said The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will be on tv tonight. And its in caps to get our attention.

On a Broadway show board, Spelling Bee means one thing--and one thing only.
And who the hell is anyone to use caps to get our attention? That thread is no more important than any other around here. As a matter of fact, it's less important.

What would you perfer her to write then Spelling Bee the real one not The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee on Tv tonight?

Hermione---thanx for the clarification about the regular rounds being on ESPN this afternoon. I was very briefly in a home this afternoon where the spelling bee was on the TV and I wondered why it was on then when ABC was airing in live tonight.
I may watch----saw "Akeelah and the Bee" in the movies---wonderful film. The musical "Bee" definitely raised bee awareness!

riv, shut up, you're not getting anyone's support, and no one wants to hear your pointless bitching. Seriously, it's tired.
