Fine, grrrl. Then it will remain a threadjack!
Oh, speaking of cliché, you know what I really hate about SPRING AWAKENING? The lack of lederhosen. I mean - this is Germany, right?

I wish there was a "Let's see how they all ended up" ending. Like, Hanschen ended up being a Nazi, and **** like that.

lol. yeah. pre WWI germany was all lederhosen and beer steins.
i didn't see david byrne as my only free night is tuesday but one of the artists he performe with was coco rosie. they are crazy. two sisters from paris. this really creepy, jazzy, tripped out sound. check em. i think you'll dig. they did this song beautiful boys with anthony johnson, another great weird artist.

sorry that's antony and the johnsons. my boyfriend just turned me on to his album and it's crazy.

oh hanschen was DEFINITELY a nazi.
a closeted gay nazi.
he would have signed up just for the uniforms.

A gay Nazi? Sounds like a crowd pleaser...
Maybe Wright's other character would be a Nazi...
The problem with that is 2/3 leads die. I think.
The two headmasters with the crazy names (what do they mean in English - "anyone" know) are more likely the Nazis.
Loved Estabrook's eye twitching.
Cocorosie are maddenning. Crazy.
Byrne is a great, though.

coco rosie was at the friday show...i saw the saturday one, but they are pretty neat. i like the electronic beats. if you guys want to start talking about spring awakening again, i can repost my long ass rant that is really in depth, but very hard to understand.
Byrne's taking part in some discussion in the city at an architecture center on Friday.
funny you should mention antony and the johnsons, as i was just invited by someone to go see them at BAM on March 9th. Hopefully those young little girls in your show won't be sick, so that you can go.

knuppeldick translates roughly as fat club (as in stick or bludgeon)
knocchenbruch translates to bone breaker

Thanks again, you.
I would love to continue this discussion but I have theatre to create.
Now I am sort of in the mood for bratwurst.

i'm fairly dure that david byrne is straight up insane.
he is clearly a genius.
but crazy as a loon no? sort of mozartesque in his madness?

It's really unfair to call an artist insane.
True, but unfair.

tying to spring awakening...i always thought duncan should have told john gallagher "throw in a little david byrne with your billie joe armstrong." although he still does a fantastic job.

"I HATE when people say the authors were lazy because they used the lyrics BLAH BLAH BLAH. In totally ****ed. These lyrics are in here for a good reason. Walk up to any high school kid today and ask them what they learned in science class. There answer will be somewhere along the lines of BLAH BLAH. Or ask about the last time there parents yelled at them.. What did they hear? BLAH BLAH. This is not lazy song writing. This is great song writing!!" Ummmm at school in the year 2007 we don't use Blah Blah, it is either Leave me alone, I don't know, or Shut up bitch...Yeeaaah that's basically everyday phrases at school...

"Shut up, bitch" just doesn't fit the music as well as "blah blah blah." Damn English.

Without starting a whole new argument, I do have to say that it's amusing that my criticism of the "blah blah blah" line is what most people seem to find issue with. Forget the fact that she criticized the entire show as a whole - let's defend that awesome "blah blah blah" line! Yeah!
maybe because it was so ridiculous?

I wish I read this thread 170 posts earlier. Siamese, I echo your statement. COMPLETELY.
I detested most everything about the show except the staging and music. I couldn't agree more with your wonderment at how people think Groff, Michele et al. stand a chance up against Esparza, Cerveris, Pierce, Murphy, Monk, McDonald, Ebersole, etc.
All of the voices sound the same. Good music. Generic voices.
That said, here's hoping for a long and prosperous run. If a show can get such great, nearly unanimous praise from everyone who sees it, it doesn't deserve to close. I've seen a lot of theater in my time, running the gammut from excellent to just plain bad. SA wasn't my favorite, far from it....but it deserves to be seen.

But it IS what we use today, I have never heard anyone go Blah Blah Blah ;D

I don't say "my junk" unless I am referring to tchotchkies, so shut up bitch. /sarcasm
