The 2007 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, Spring Awakening, has recouped its initial $6 million capitalization.
Variety reports that the Duncan Sheik-Steven Sater musical's recoupment was helped by a strong summer that followed its win of eight Tony Awards this past June. Producer Ira Pittelman told the industry paper that the musical currently has an advance between $3.5 and $4 million.
As previously reported, a national tour of the rock musical is scheduled to begin in September 2008 in San Francisco. A London production, Variety reports, may open in late fall of 2008. International productions in Japan, Korea, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands are also in development.

Sondehim, they took those on Nov. 15th at the final dress rehearsal. Those photos appear in the color program.
Despite the fact that I think the show isn't all that great, good for them.
Congradulations to a wonderful and awe-inspiring production! I hope it translates succesfully internationally.

Fairly quick, actually, I mean, not like DROWSY or SPELLING BEE type of quick, but I bet not many people expected this would be such a hit show

Well it struggled for its first 7 months in terms of gaining profits...but since things have boosted, it's recouped.
If it were having these numbers from the bginning, they probably would have recouped in March or April.
