...well other people made "for best musical" posts...SA needed one! so ummmm...GO SA! hhahahah. But I do really want Spring Awakening to win! I truly think they deserve it. Oh the competition at Tonys this year is going to be sooo tough.

Too cute...
I'm with you on this one Lauren!
I wouldn't be overly worried, last time I looked SA was a heavy favorite to take the Best Musical Tony.

So was Wicked, but look what happened to it...Just saying anything can happen
I was thinking that but didn't want to say it. :)
Fingers are crossed here, I truly believe Spring Awakening deserves the Best Musical Tony this year.

For me, it's really hard to decide this year what will win, there are some really great shows this season...

Becoz, reviews aren't everything that a show should depend upon..weren't you complaining earlier about being attacked by skittles and now you're trying to attack me for comparing Wicked and Spring Awakening? If you would have looked it up before jumping the case Wicked DID in fact win "Best Musical" awards leading up to the Tony awards( Drama Desk, Outer Critics) much like Spring Awakening is doing now and I'm saying that although Wicked was favored to win, Avenue Q won....the same thing could happen to Spring Awakening this year; and that was why I was comparing them...

Aladin, I agree with much of what you have said. However, Wicked, while eyecandy and fun, is an inferior show when compared to Avenue Q. I think that is why it lost the Tony. At the end of the day I'd rather be the producers of Wicked than Q. $$$$

mightydog, I agree with you also; I was only saying that thoguh because this year's season has a lot of good shows and there are a definate couple which standout that could take a Tony over Spring and that's why I mentioned it so that no one gets their hopes up in case something does happen..
Mightydog, you basically said what I wanted to say. Anyways, Spring Awakening has got critical acclaim and has done well with audiences. Even the the show isn't selling as well as it could be, it is still turning out a nice profit for the type of show it is.

K futurealaddin, but this is an SA love thread. We have countless other topics we already discussed this issue in. We know it may not win, we're just hoping it might.
Also, Aladdin you have made it clear that you aren't to crazy about Spring Awakening and are just coming over here and saying that in spite of your dislike for the show. Do I see you saying that about Legally Blonde? No, because you like that show.

Would you like me to post in every " BEST MUSCIAL" thread for them not to get their hopes up, because as I said, it could go anywhere..The fact that I'm not in aww over Spring Awakening does not mean I am against it for Best Musical by any means..the fact you assumed that because I am not raving about it is just foolish for you to think that I am trying to come in and say it shouldn't win..
You have said before that you aren't to fond of the show because supposedly the fan base has turned you away. I was a just a little baffled by the fact that because you hadn't said it on any other threads. I didn't think you said it shouldn't win. Talking to you about this is pointless because you are going to argue against everything I say.

Yes the fanbase has turned me away from the show "ON THIS BOARD"..that doesn't mean I don't like it off this site, it just means that when I'm on here I can't stand listening to the many fans hailing the show through 500 Love Threads..If it ends up with the 2007 Best Musical, I will be happy for it..I'll be happy for any show this year to win Best Musical

Wicked did not win any best musical awards leading up to the Tony's while Spring Awakening has nabbed every award there is.
What are you talking about?
Wicked was the front-runner for the Tony because it won ALL of the awards prior to the Tony.
Drama League Award: Distinguished Production of a Musical
Drama Desk Award: Outstanding Musical
Outer Critics Circle Awards: Outstanding Broadway Musical
Broadway.com Audience Award: Favorite New Musical
BroadwayWorld.com Awards- Best Musical
Is there any award besides the Tony that it didn't get?

Thank you.
Agreed. Thanks.
I thought it hadn't won the awards prior to the Tony's. I'm wrong I guess.

SPRING AWAKENING has a decent score, a serviceable book, terrible direction, a talented cast, and little emotion. Sounds like a best musical to me, though.

It's not an opinion.
It's fact.
And I say so.

Some more fact:
GREY GARDENS has a beautifully haunting score, a decent book, serviceable direction, an amazing cast, and so much emotion Christine Ebersole has it pouring out of her ass. Sounds too classy to be best musical, though.
