Oh and by the way Munk, I recall you describing SA's score as brilliant. hmmm.
"so much emotion Christine Ebersole has it pouring out of her ass"
That was too funny! Thanks BSo.

the thing is that wicked is the most overrated musical of all time and spring awakening lives up to the buzz. even though it did not win he amount of awards as sa has i think that sa is more like avenue q because it is not a spectacle musical
Although I don't like the show, I am almost certain it's going to win.
But I gotta say, to this day I am still saying "No dude..Wicked won BEST MUSICAL...oh wait! **** mother****er! it didn't!" And I prefered Avenue Q anyway. Yikes.

K futurealaddin, but this is an SA love thread. We have countless other topics we already discussed this issue in. We know it may not win, we're just hoping it might.
I don't understand why so many people are allowed to talk about SA in the Grey Gardens thread, but not allowed to talk about any other shows in the SA thread. Typical.
That said, I thought SA was good, but not deserving of Best Musical.
Agreed asley. There are people saying SA deserves to win Best Musical in the GG thread, so why can't people do likewise here?
And there's already a SA love thread.

I do recall people saying the EXACT same thing I said in the Grey Gardens love thread...
edit: it was you, ashley, who said the same thing I did actually. Pot, Kettle.

Exactly. And I was shot down because it was "discussion." We can "discuss" in this thread too.

I can't really give my full opinion on who should win best musical this year because I haven't seen all of the new shows. But I do want SA to win it. I can't imagine anything that I didn't see being any better.
"If it doesn't win there is something seriously wrong with the world.."
Well the word says "up yours! Just for that we won't let em win!"
Jk.
Honestly, I don't even have a favorite musical this year. If I were to side with one, I would choose GG. But I am happy with the revivals.
Heh BDavis you totally contradicted yourself but I get what you're saying.

I want to say that we have nothing to worried about re: Spring Awakening for Best Musical because of the other award outcomes, but look what happened to Wicked in 2004...

Remind us what happened to WICKED, I forget...

stop comparing it to wicked. it is a totally different situation.
How so?

1. Wicked was not critically acclaimed
2. Wicked is not very innovative
3. Wicked is a spectacle musical
4. Wicked was not an off-broadway transfer
5. Wicked was the show that would tour better
and i could go on and on.....
And yet, regardless, Wicked won ALL of the precurser awards, just like SA. Hmm. Seems like a valid comparison to me.
Most of that doesn't have anything to do with the situation though. Maybe Wicked wasn't cirtically acclaimed, but it didn't even matter with all those tickets sold. Many people argue it's innovative. Plenty of spectable musicals have won Tonys.
The show that would tour better? Not an off-broadway transfer? I mean I don't care about Wicked, I'm just wondering what that has to do with the Tony decision and SA.

Touring has a lot to do with the tony decision anna..
Well touring potential is often a very big factor in these awards, which is why the more commercial shows tend to win over the more acclaimed ones.
And I agree that Wicked isn't innovative, but I don't think SA is very innovative either.
^ How come? (As in the touring) To sell tickets and attract audiences you mean? Something like that?

jg - remember that when SPRING AWAKENING wins the Tony.

look im just saying that i think spring awakening has more momentum then wicked did. in my opinion, SA is more like Avenue Q and that maybe Avenue Q should have won all the other awards, but the others were going with Wicked because they thought that was who was going to win the tony

bsobw- I wasn't saying Spring did having touring potential, did I? I was just responding to Anna's comment. God.

plus if the touring vote were not important, why did spring awakening's producers allready announce a tour for the fall of 2008?
