SWEET CHARITY SWEET!!! Amazing EVERYONE SHOULD SEE IT

I saw Sweet Charity this afternoon and was amazed that it was so great. Charlotte was amazing funny and great. She is so extremely talented. Denis O'hare is histerical (ALL I CAN SAY IS ELEVATOR *FABULOUS*). The sets fabulous. THE DANCING WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't voice enough how FABULOUS THIS SHOW IS.

THE MUST SEE FOR THE YEAR!

WILL WIN THE TONY AWARD FOR BEST REVIVAL GUARANTEED!!!!

Denis O'hare will def. get at least a nom for best actor in a musical.

Anyone who says they didn't like it obviously had that attitude going into the theatre.

PLEASE go see it. Its great.

Had a friend who saw the same performance and hated every last minute of it except for Charlotte, said she was the ONLY redeeming quality. I really do want to like this show going into it, and will try my hardest, but after everything thats happened, its sure as hell wont be easy.

This show is fabulous. Wonderful town.... the show before this that was in the same theatre was crap. This show at least has a point.
1. YOU MUST LIKE OLD MUSICAL TO PROBABLY LIKE THE SHOW.
2. Go completely open minded into the show just and ready to enjoy what is a fun show.

Boy, I'm reading posts on this board tonight about "Sweet Charity", by different people, and it sure sounds that you all went to different shows. Very interesting.

Well, just because it won the tony doesn't mean it was the best musical that year. I mean just look at the whole Wicked vs. Avenue Q thing or the Hairspray vs. Urinetown...(at least i think it was urinetown and hairspray, right?)

Wonderful Town was slow, yet wonderful. My, how I wish that show would come back instead of Charity.

Hey, notice how Joyce Chittick stays in the same theater...

chip, lots of people have been suggesting denis would be a lead when theyve written up their assumptions for nominations. i havent seen the show but im getting the feeling it could go either way.

re: SWEET CHARITY SWEET!!! Amazing EVERYONE SHOULD SEE IT

Hairspray and Urinetown were not nominated for the Tony in the same year. The whole Wicked vs. Avenue Q thing doesn't prove anything because Avenue Q deserved to win.

Wonderful Town does have a point, though someone obviously didn't get it.

Trying to compare Wonderful Town to Sweet Charity is apples/oranges. It's possible to like both or hate both. They have nothing in common other than both has a script and a score.

Urinetown lost to Millie. (Which proves that they do not give Tony's based on originality).

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

Funny- but the word SHILL comes to mind....
"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

Eliza-I'm glad you liked it so much! I'm probably going to see it this weekend and I'm very excited about it if you can't already tell by my avatar.

I have never heard such varying reviews for something before! I have a friend that loved it, another that thought it was okay, other that HATED it, and someone who left at intermission. I really don't know what to expect, but it makes me want to see it even more.

re: SWEET CHARITY SWEET!!! Amazing EVERYONE SHOULD SEE IT

I hear such varying reviews for practically every musical that opens. It's not a shocker. And true to form with the board, there is always a childish comment like swifty's that immediately discredits anything they may say in the future.

I disagree - there have never been varying reviews of such a dramatic nature of the ones we've had for this show, except for a few early reviews of GOOD VIBRATIONS and BROOKLYN.

re: SWEET CHARITY SWEET!!! Amazing EVERYONE SHOULD SEE IT

There has been unending crap on Wicked since it was in previews far more varied and dramatic than this.

Rmemeber:

How could Wicked have lost Best Musical???
Ave Q Sux!
Chenoweth's breaking character
The SLAP
Idina's near-fatal accident
Menzel-Chenoweth love/hatred backstage

blah blah blah blah blah....

re: SWEET CHARITY SWEET!!! Amazing EVERYONE SHOULD SEE IT

WONDERFUL TOWN did NOT WIN the Tony for best Musical Revival. It lost to ASSASINS. I have never known anyone in "real life" who has not found SWEET CHARITY dreadful. Let the buyer beware. I shant spend more time here posting about this turkey of a show.
