Sally Struthers in "The Best Little *house in Texas". Somehow I can't see her as Mona.

Posted: 9/6/05 at 2:20pmWell, it's sold out. But I'm sure you could second act it. Struthers will eat at least one audience member before intermission, I'm sure.
re: Sally Struthers#2
Posted: 9/6/05 at 2:21pmI can see her as Miss Mona with no sweat. She'll be hysterical.
re: Sally Struthers#4
Posted: 9/6/05 at 2:23pmI always thought it was funny to see her in those commericals about 10-15 years ago asking for donations to buy food for kids in 3rd world countries.

Posted: 9/6/05 at 2:23pmPatronus, I chose to ignore the old, tired, overdone, and uncalled for "joke."

For the price of a cup of coffee... Ya know, I thought I NEED that cup of coffee!

But Miss Mona needs an eensy bit of sex appeal. Struthers left that behind in the 1980's.
Miss Mona needs a "world weary" and quietness about her. Struthers is great with broad comedy. She has a long way to go to play world weary.

Posted: 9/6/05 at 2:25pmOh, come on! We all need a Sally Struthers joke once in a while. All in good fun.
re: Sally Struthers#9
Posted: 9/6/05 at 2:27pmWell, Gotham, I think she can handle it. I've seen her do a beautiful job with roles that called for drama. Let's see what the audience and critics have to say. I wish I could see it!

Now that I can see as Miss Mona!

Lord, it's like a hard candy Christmas.

But this I have a hard time with.
re: Sally Struthers#13
Posted: 9/6/05 at 2:30pmI predict she'll be quite sexy.

"I predict she'll be quite sexy."
Maybe in a Baby Jane Hudson sort of way.
re: Sally Struthers#16
Posted: 9/6/05 at 2:33pmGotham, I spent some time with her not that many years ago. Sex appeal she's got. Trust me.
re: Sally Struthers#17
Posted: 9/6/05 at 2:34pmOh, I like Sally Struthers and I think she is very talented but I do have a hard time seriously picturing her as Miss Mona. I certainly would love to see her do it though.

She played Dolly in Hello Dolly for the same company last year.
I didn't see it but I heard she was pretty great (after a few performances).
re: Sally Struthers#19
Posted: 9/6/05 at 2:35pmAnd I have no trouble at all with that picture.

She looks like Geri Halliwell in her plump Ginger Spice days!
re: Sally Struthers#21
Posted: 9/6/05 at 3:13pmDolly Parton wasn't exactly rail-thin when she did it...I think Sally will be fine. She has alot of stage experience and I for one think she was fantastic in Five Easy Pieces--very small role, but memorable. People who only know her for the Save the Children ads and Gloria will be surprised.
re: Sally Struthers#22
Posted: 9/6/05 at 3:14pmDidn't she do a tour of Annie a while ago? Anyone see it?
re: Sally Struthers#23
Posted: 9/6/05 at 3:15pmYes, she played Miss Hannigan and did a fine job. No Dorothy Loudon but she was good.

She looks like Dorothy Loudon in the Western Wear shirt in Wonder's post...
Can't wait to hear all about it.
