I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this show if you have heard anything about it. I'm going to see it this weekend. At first, soley for Al Pacino... but then when I looked it up I saw that Jessica Chastain is in it as well. She went to Juilliard with my best friend so that was a fun surprise to see her in the cast.
Salome
It's a great play...let us know.

I saw the staged reading of this that was done at St Ann's Warehouse (pre-Broadway) with Pacino, Dianne Wiest, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and David Strathairn and was fairly entertained. It was rather static and indifferently staged, as I supposed befits a reading of this type (though Salome's dance was diverting). Pacino was in full over-the-top, hammy mode using an odd accent and idiosyncratic line readings to mine some humor from the text. He seemed to be enjoying himself. The others were fine and the incidental music managed to set the mood well. Not a great evening of theatre, by any means, but worth seeing for Pacino in a playful mode (it'll be good to see him really "act" again sometime -- I saw him in HUGHIE and AMERICAN BUFFALO and he's an extraordinarily dynamic and intense stage actor when he wants to be; in SALOME, he seems to just be having fun).
Thanks! I'll try and let you know know what I thought about it after this weekend.

I've got it covered so to speak... that theater calls me occassionally to help them usher when I can. I'll be the one with standing room seats in the back of the orch! haha

Hi guys - i'm going to see Salome in May as well and wondered if anyone knew if the actors visted with the fans at the Stage Door after the show? If so, does anyone know where the Stage Door is?
(Thanks In advance).
I would like to know this too. I would love to get a picture with Al! Also I would love to have Kevin sign my Brooklyn Insert.
Yes it was a staged reading.
Yes they come out afterward... I don't know if they always will or if they take pictures as I didn't really wait around to find out. When you leave the theater make a sharp right and you'll see a large white canopy/umbrella type thing and some railing.
The show itself was great! I'll be honest, this kind of play tests my patience and I don't like feeling as if I may be missing something or that I'm not understanding the language completely. The first 1/2 hour was a little slow for me and I was a little lost as to where the story was going, but once it picked up (or rather, once I started to "get it") I enjoyed it so much! It had a lot of moments of humor which I wasn't exspecting as well as some great dramatic acting.
Wow I suck at reviews... Al Pacino did a fine job and I was so incredibly proud of Jessica as well who I was able to say hi to afterwards and was as sweet as can be.
I was glad to find out... and maybe this is already common knowledge... that Spelling Bee and Altar Boys are coming to the Wadsworth!!!
Last thoughts I'll leave you with is that there is no intermission in this show and there are only one bathroom each for men and woman downstairs. Also, there is no elevator which may make it hard for some to get in the balcony.
There are rush seats available on the VERY sides of the stage for $28. I don't mean front row on the sides, I mean on the actual sides of the stage so you probably end up seeing their backs most of the time. I personally would HATE having that view from there. Some others may find it a worthwhile alternative to paying full price.
