That's not what I said at all. But when you act as if you're right, and no one else's opinion matters, no one wants to talk to you. Don't think that makes us sensitive...it just makes you obtuse.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

There are plenty of young, beautiful women that can sing, but are also able to give nuanced performancesthat will be in demand long before she is."

She also had a supporting role in the Donmar Warehouse's Olivier Award-winning production of City of Angels.

OP used the word “bitchy” an awful lot, and called his/her relatively sensible collocutors “sensitive.” The lady doth protest too much, methinks. OP is a lovely study in psychological projection.

Psychological projection is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unconscious impulses or qualities (both positive and negative) by denying their existence in themselves while attributing them to others.[1] For example, a person who is habitually rudemay constantly accuse other people of being rude. It incorporates blame shifting.

Not liking a performer and stating your opinion is fine. Acting like anyone who does like them is an idiot for doing so is stupid. Let people like who they want to like. Some people will go to see Samantha in a show and love her and think she's great, and some people won't. Gizmo6, there will be performers who you love who other people don't. Does that mean they're a bad performer and you're an idiot for liking them? No. It means you had a different opinion.

Yeah, which is probably the only thing she's done post-Les Misérables that I'd consider a decent career move.

I beg to differ. She was not good AT ALL in the Other Palace "Last Five Years" in London.

I don't know about all of y'all, but singing a power ballad and dying onstage is certainly on MY bucket list of things to do as an actor...

I wonder what the cast of AMELIE thought of Barks/Soo...like which one they preferred. Most of them were unchanged between Berkeley and the Ahmanson productions.

Jeffrey Karasarides said: "Well, she has a fanbase who roots for her to have as much success as possible. I should also point out that she tweeted almost a week ago that she has some news she can't wait to share. I wonder what her news could be."

Apparently, her news is that she'll be starring in the Broadway-bound musical adaptation of Pretty Woman.

Everyone swears she's the next big thing but no one aside from this board knows who the hell she is. Yes, she was in the film adaptation of the musical LES MISERABLES and was in Hollywood Bowl's CHICAGO but aside from seeing her in these 2 things, I still have no idea why everyone toots this girl's horn. No one knows who she is nor cares, really."

She came to prominence in the UK on the BBC One Tv Show 'I'd Do Anything' a search for Nancy for the West End Revival. She didn't win but definitely was the favourite. Webber and McIntosh wanted a young Nancy but the public voted for Jodie Prenger, a fantastic Nancy booming belter voice, voluptuous and great acting chops.

The public wanted a gutsy Nancy. Barks was only 17 and was eliminated in the 10th week reaching the top three.
"

I like Samantha fine, and thought she, Tveit and Redmayne were by far the best things in the Les Mis movie.

But I completely agreed with the "I'd Do Anything" public.  As a prospective Nancy, Prenger was irresistible.  When I was watching that show, I marveled that Macintosh and Webber didn't seem to share the public's consensus.

Damn, someone starts a thread here about Samantha Barks and the Pretty Woman news breaks practically the next day. It's like Beetlejuice.
