Sara Bareilles Wicked?

Has anyone ever considered this? While her acting may need work I think that Sara would make a fantastic film Elphaba, but I am not too sure if she could be able to handle the show eight times a week. I think her rendition of The Wizard and I could be absolutely glorious. For some reason to me, she looks and has the feel of an Elphaba.

What do you all think?

Seems too old for the role. If she were in contention, I'd just as soon go with Idina, as she is only 8 years older to play a character in high school? They'd be giving Grease a run for their money as far as age-appropriate casting.

She is a singer songwriter, not a stage actress. She jumped into Waitress because it was her baby and she was great in it. Why would you think someone of her stature would possibly want to be the 34th Elphaba in a show that's been running almost 15 years?

UncleCharlie, I think you missed the part where the OP included the film adaptation in the discussion.

Fair enough. I didn't read through the whole thing.

I think she would sound incredible in the film but I hope they go with a relative unknown and make a star out of her. And also someone age-appropriate who is interesting looking and not a cookie-cutter Disney channel property.

...college, but your point still holds true.

A major pop star and singer songwriter who acts and has written the score for an acclaimed musical, in which she won great praise taking the lead role for a while, will not do a role that’s routinely filled with fresh from clllege jobbers unless it’s a movie or a live TV version.

Do you want to see Lin-Manuel Miranda play Amos Hart too?
