re: Sarah Ramirez??

"omg I am seing the show This WEd at 2:00 if Time Curry is not there I will hang myself"

That's a silly reason to commit suicide. Seriously, there is more to life than Tim Curry.

re: Sara Ramirez??

I love how immediately people are writing her off because of the size of her boobs. Some of you are acting as if she was the first person in the history of theatre to have a large chest. Get over yourselves. Sara is a wonderful performer. I haven't seen her, except on the Tony's and listening to the CD, but I have heard nothing but compliments from her. I am very happy for her and I think she is wonderful, and deserved all the accolades and awards she's received (and I am a huge Kelli O'Hara fan...)

So if you are going to attack her performance, do just that: Explain why you don't like her singing, or her acting, or her timing or whatever. But DO NOT attack a certain part of her physical appearance and say that is why she's gotten where she is.

When your a devouted Rocky Horror PIcture Show fan and always dreamed about seeing Sweet Transvestite LIVE it will be one of the dissapointments of my life if he is not there. I thought what i said was sarcasm. Some people need to chill. And Trust me if it was legit I have already attempted suicide a few times and failed. Life a Piece of **** when you look at it.

re: Sara Ramirez??

Sit close enough to the front and you can very easily see that Ms. Ramirez' assets are greatly enhanced by the artistic application of cleavage makeup combined with properly (improperly?) constructed costumes. She is a perfectly average proportioned, EXTREMELY talented lady who very nearly walks away with the show each night. And that's saying a lot considering the fact that the rest of that cast is so incredible. (If I were in charge of award nominations, David H.P. would have been nominated before T.C. Unfortunately I thought Tim Curry was the least remarkable of the bunch.)

re: Sara Ramirez??

One more time for the nose bleed section, she is NOT amply endowed, by any means. It's called padding and make-up. Nuff' said. She's a big gal all around, but not particularly busty.

re: Sara Ramirez??

I think she's an amazing talent. I've watched the Spamalot Tony performance many times and continue to be so amazed. From the looks of it, she is quite an actress, too. I am so proud that she is in a cast of really well-known and talented men and she still outshines them all by a mile.
And I didn't think she was big at all...I think her Tony dress was just a bit small. re: Sara Ramirez??

re: Sara Ramirez??

I'd like to agree with and add to what Emcee said. I think she is an amazingly talented and I am happy that she is in a hit show (after reading that she was unfortunately cast in many flopped shows). However, I don't the the PART is all it is hyped up to be. Compared to other women up for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for a Tony I thought others deserved it more.

That being said, I must ask this question. What type of effect does the quality of the part/character have on the outcome of who gets the award. Does perforing a spectacularly in a great role vs. performing spectaucularly in a not so great role make a difference?

I hope you aren't expecting him to sing Sweet Transvestite....

re: Sara Ramirez??

I'm sorry, but my response to that, in a word, is riDONCulous.

Just bc she has big boobs doesn't mean you should try to degrade her. What a dumb society we live in, that someone who is beautiful or has sex appeal is looked down upon for it. What are you living in, the 1400s? Sara has an AMAZING, amazing voice. Truly one of the best out there. She does not push, it is well-focused, it has soooo many colors... how on earth could you say she is not the best singer? She is fabulous. Absolutely fabulous.

And now I am disgusted.

re: Sara Ramirez??

I must say I'm not surprised that some people don't like her voice.
I'm going to say right now that I'm not one of them because I was quite frankly blown away right when I heard the CD and she's even more amazing live.

I think what some people didn't like, or didn't understand, is that her character is, being the diva that she is, a caricature of many female parts in the musical theatre and as such, she sometimes emphasizes certain things and overdoes some parts in songs.

However, and to me it's the main reason she deserved the Tony more than any other actress nominated this year, she manages to be outrageous vocally without ever sounding bad in any of the many repertoires, ranges and genres she tackles... all this while being hillarious!

Sure it's a comedy but I don't see any part for featured actress, even dramatic parts, that were as challenging vocally and acting wise as hers this season.

just my 2 cents, of course...

re: Sara Ramirez??

ok omg my whole POINT was that the show (written by men designed by men- costumes!) stuck a woman in there and i didnt feel like the character was a well rounded one, just "a woman part" in the stereotypical sense. i agree with those who have said that the part isnt "all its hyped up to be" because that was my problem with it. and the whole point that she has all that padding and makeup bothers me because it just goes to show that thats what theyre focused on. the point is not how she is naturally endowed, that would be stupid because that isnt up to her in the first place (unless she got implants which i doubt) so im sorry if i didnt make myself clear in the first place, i wasnt criticizing her boobs which would be a moot point.

re: Sara Ramirez??

You said: (and I quote): "ok they had this cast with all these guys in it so they hired a woman- what woman? the one with the biggest boobs, not necessarily the best singer. i was kinda disappointed. thoughts? "

That doesn't imply that her character wasn't well written, or anything is wrong with the costume or design. You plainly stated that they sacrificed talent for sexuality. So your argument now makes no sense.

re: Sara Ramirez??

i know what i said and if you read the thread i said that maybe i didnt express what i meant to say. my thoughts were better expressed by luvtheemcee and tgif who said, and i quote, "I don't think the PART is all it is hyped up to be. Compared to other women up for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for a Tony I thought others deserved it more. "
and adding to that, my criticism is also that as it is written the part is stereotypical because it was written entirely by men and therefore problematic. perhaps as i was watching the show, i was taking more note of that than the woman's talent, and therefore was not impressed.

Fair enough. I apologize. I didn't get past your first post bc I was sooo annoyed, but now I see what you were saying.
