I think it was close to recouping its investment.
However, will the tour & the eventual selling of rights make this a profitable investment?

I think so Pinky.
But what's with this see-it-ONE-more-time crap?
Going tonight for starters.

I saw the show during the last week of previews. I'm surprised it lasted more than two weeks after the opening :)

Just thought you guys might like to know...
While driving home, in the middle of the 5th inning of the Yankee-Red Sox game this afternoon, on WCBS-AM radio there was a commercial for DRS, with no mention of a closing, but with a "new cast" plus Sherie R S.

It was great with John Lithgow and Norman Leo Butz. I saw it twice. Their replacements paled in comparison.

Thanks for giving me a much needed laugh Broadwaylady.

I've got to disagree with you re John's replacement. I was certainly expecting it to go down (I thought Lithgow was terrific). I was terrifically surprised to see Jonathan Pryce knock it out of the park with his performance. I can't remember laughing that hard or for that long in a very, very long time.
As for the two guys in there now - I saw them twice, right after they came on board. I saw a lot of improvement with the second performance over the first. In both cases they showed that with a very little bit of time, they would be great.

Ha ha I meant Norbert Leo Butz. I am getting these senior moments more often.

I'm sad to see DRS go but I can't agree it's ALL down to cast changes! I saw it earlier in the year when Jason Gillman was in for Norbert - I heard a few people in line commenting on the 'substitution' and not being aware they were missing out on a Tony-Award-Winning performance; even so, 'Ruprecht' raised HUGE laughs and the whole show went down a storm.
If anything, I think DRS has suffered in comparison by not being based on a particular cult movie or phemenenon (unlike many of its direct competitors). That doesn't make it superior IMHO, it just makes it realistically less likely to ride out the rough times. :-<

Feel sorry for Keith Carradine
Has not had real success since Will Rogers. Played Will Bill Hickcock in Deadwood ( the only character who did not cuss up a storm ) & was great. Less than half way thru the season, he gets killed. Now he comes back & the run is ending prematurely
Better luck in the future for him

I'm really hoping to get some comps so I can help it stay open by showing my support.

OK, few words in my mind:
They're closing after 666 performances!! HEHEHEHE!! I think that might be why.
And, Tommy Tune once said it best, "Shows used to come in and do their run, not stay in a theatre for 18 years and make it harder for new shows to come in and start running." We should let the shows go in and out. I mean, c'mon, people have been in the show since day 1, they're tired of it.
And, it's not THAT good.

Impossible, but they deserve to have someone try. It wont make a diffrence, but they are good enough that they deserve credit, so send me how to sign.

As much as it saddens me to see DRS go, I don't think there's any saving it. It's had a good run, and will most likely recoup on tour, so I think it's best just to try to catch it on Broadway before it's gone.

I've seen it before w/the OBC and saw it tonight cause my friend is a friend of Brian Darcy James - who, by the way, was TERRIFIC.
I actually enjoyed it more than the first time.
And Richard Kind was very funny as well. Sherie, as usual, was terrific too.
