Instead of a petition, we should just buy tickets to see the show.

I think the best thing we can do is encourage people to go see it.
Maybe people assiciated with the show read this board and we can spread the DRS love... Perhaps extend it a little while?

Unless you guys are able to cause ticket sales to increase about $100,000 every week, there is no chance of the show being salvaged past 9/3...

Actually, Thesbijean, I hear that NathanLaneStalker is secretly Donald Trump, so that might not be too farfetched after all...

Did I really just make fun of someone, and then double post? Oh my gosh. This isn't right.

DRS is closing whether you like it or not.
There's still the tour!

I never understand the reason for these type of threads. The show is closing, it had a healthy run, won some Tonys, it will live on tour and regional theaters. If every show on Broadway ran forever, then we'd never get new shows. Just be glad this show wasn't a total flop.

Yeah, I never did get around to seeing it.

Sadly, this won't work - but it's a lovely gesture for Tom, Rak, Tim, Rachel, Jason, Julie, Roxane, Stephen, Sally Mae, Will, Amy, Chuck, Dennis, and EVERYBODY else who I've forgotten (due to my permanent senior moment), but who are directly responsible for making this the wonderful show it is.

In a wonderful world, people who made high decisions like "should DRS stay open past 9/3?" would magically read this thread and go - "hey, there are about 30 fans who really like it! Cool!"
However, this is really quite unrealistic. Though we have DRS love, we be a small and not always moneyed group. And sadly, the powers that be decided it's time. And we need places for new shows. Love it while it last and give in!

Oh, the intention of this thread is genuine, I have no doubt... But broadway_show_fan said it best: it is unrealistic to think we can actually save the show from closing
... Even though we'd all love to.

It was a ball, it was a blast, but sadly this show cannot last.
You should just go and see it one last time. By the way, whoever is reading this thread, do see it before it closes. Or at least wait till it comes to your hometown.

It will have lived well on Broadway with it's Tony-hurrahs, other awards and such. The run wasn't too bad in length either - though someone high and mighty has a weird sense of humor with it having played "666" performances.
What a great show, but, alas, the curtain's gotta go down for the curtain to come up on, say, Curtains or High Fidelity. If anything, petition for some sort of magic to be made and create new/bigger/more Broadway houses!

After seeing the show on Broadway and on tour, I have to say that much of the charm was in the original cast. Without them, a lot of the charm is lost. It has run its course.

I loved the original cast. Last time, I didn't see a single original cast member except for Joanna (who, of course, was fabulous) but the show wasn't half as good as it was when I first saw it.
If John and Norbert came back to Broadway, the show could be saved.

R.I.P. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. It's a shame that such a great show has to close.

-Dre- You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree.

Guys, 600+ performances is a damned good run. It might just recoup by the end (although I doubt it). Let's just leave well enough alone. It's sad, but it was fun while it lasted.
