I thought it was great! Barbara Walsh was hysterical during "The Little Things..". I love how sarcastic that song is---can't explain it. I nearly lost it during " Not getting married today"--Heather Laws knocked it out of the park. It was the first time I had ever seen actors playing instruments and for the most part I thought it worked out well. The only scene where I felt it didn't work as well was "You could drive a person crazy"
oh yes and the best part of the show was Raul. I had never heard him sing before. Wow. His voice is stunning and he acted the hell out of Robert. "Marry Me a Little" and "Being Alive" gave me the chills and I was virtually in tears during "Being Alive". I didn't get a chance to meet him after the matinee because, apparently, Joanna Gleason was there. I was bummed but I saw another show that night and the Barrymore theatre is on the way to the subway so I ran over after I stage doored it at the other show and I got to meet him and get a pic taken. He was so nice to us and it was thrilling getting a chance to meet him. If you asked me right now who my favorite actor on Broadway is it would be him hands down.

Buying "The Little Things.." was such a mistake because every time it comes on I lose it.

glad you had a great time.
and she rocks that triangle, but i think patti lupone in sweeney todd can give her a run for her money (you did say "ever" not just this year)

I saw the show a week ago and I can still feel it. Not bad for someone who lives in DC. Anyway I'm overjoyed you liked the show because to me this is a show that need's to run forever. Its messages and theme's are as important today as they were when Elaine Stritch toasted The Ladies Who Lunch.
By the way Barbara was awesome when I was there as well.

Posted: 3/25/07 at 11:20pmI'm curious what the song breakdown is. What song ends Act 1 and what song begins Act II. Is "Not Getting Married Today" the end of Act 1, or is it "Marry Me a Little"? Or neither?

LADIES WHO LUNCH right from the beginning.

ETA -- nevermind, already been answered.
Marry Me a Little is the Act One closer; it comes after Not Getting Married Today, because Bobby says "Amy, marry me," and she tells him, "you've got to want to marry somebody, not just somebody."
Not taking over, don't worry. If not for you, I'd have nothing else to say than to provide an answer to the question. God forbid your monopoly is threatened.
But my, my we are repetitive, aren't we? You really need new material. Trolling me's old hat already. Thread's been here all day and I haven't taken over yet, so you're welcome to begin counting now. Lotta good it'll do ya if you're going to bait me until. I'm forced to take over with defenses. Clever, clever. (I'll count the seconds til you provoke me, though -- how 'bout that?)

I thought that. I figured the big ending note for "IIII" would be a good way to finish it.
Question, is sheet music available for "Marry Me A Little." I know it was added into the show, so I wasn't sure.

The revival ends the act on "I'm ready..." though, which I think is different from other versions.
Oh, gosh, am I taking over? Heaven forbid! I'm sorry, I must not be authorized to participate in this discussion. I'm sure you're hoping to make it look like I kill every thread for the aske of drawning attention to myself, but everyone who reads this can see in plain view that you are the one who makes it all about me and turns every discussion about this show into which you can sink your teeth into a vehicle for your personal issues with me. If I continue to take your bait (stupid as it is), then I will also continue to call your out on your bullsh*t. "Wait til she takes over! Because I bait her so she will!"

Posted: 3/25/07 at 11:34pmWait, that song was added into the show for the revival? It wasn't in the original?

Nope, it was written to be the closing number, but then they replaced it with Being Alive. Marry Me A Little was not in the original show.
Emcee, I think CPD perhaps might be in love with you. I'd be flattered if I were you.

It's been in other productions besides the current one, but was cut from the original. It was also at one point the ending of the entire show.
If I were a man, I'd think maybe you were right.
It is very elementary school crush, though.
Have a nice night, my lieblings. I've wasted enough time.

Did you specially forumulate the strange format you write in to give an extra oomph of invalidation to everything you say? Or is it the incessantly irritating rabble rousing that made me notice in the first place?
I'm sure that's a question with many answers, as we're used to seeing in Company dissection, so you can feel free to answer "Y/N/M?" and instead spend a little more time discussing the show and a little less time discussing its fans.
