. . . and it's FANTASTIC!!!
For those of you that had your doubts after listening to the CD sampler, put them to rest. The lyrics that you thought were pedestrian, in context, work like a dream. The show pays homage to the 90's stylistically without being campy; the script stays true to the film while Walter Bobbie (director) lets each individual actor put his/her stamp on their character. Most of the time, I was LMAO, but there are some beautifully touching moments, too.
Jenn Colella looks and sounds perfect as Laura, and she and Will Chase have great chemistry. To be honest, though, I was more affected by the secondary love story of Dick (Christian Anderson) and Anna (Kirsten Wyatt). They are both quirky, earnest and adorable!
This was the last NYC rehearsal before the company went to Boston today for their out-of-town tryout. While a couple of the supporting women seemed to lack some confidence, the show overall seemed really tight. I'm predicting a smash hit!
Wow, what a subtle gush and so obviously not a shill (insert major eye roll here). Funny, I heard the exact opposite but I respect the fact that you have a job to do.
What gave it away Bree?
Anyone who uses the expression "LMAO" cannot be taken serious, and should be shot.
But I'm glad the show was good...looking forward to it.

Certainly, the poster is very excited about the show.
I don't think this is a shill though. If it is, every highly exited positive post would be a shill.
In general, I usually take those positive but kind of taking back to hide the real objective as a shill.
Guys, I have absolutely nothing to gain by this . . . and I have to say, I was surprised that I liked this show. I am barely acquainted with one person in the ensemble and have no money invested, so I wanted nothing more than to share my impressions with you. Take 'em or leave 'em, but no need to be snarky!

I have heard both positive and negative reviews, but I am still very excited to see this in Boston. I will see every show I can and form my own opinion. Glad you liked it, though.
Good Lord, now we are reviewing Dress Rehearsals? I can't wait until we get to the point of reviewing the initial conversation someone had over dinner about a great idea for a show to produce.
I'm looking forward to it. :)

Well, if there is strong opposition to one idea, we might be able to stop bad ideas from even happening.
BRAVO, justme2. I'm thinking that's why Bree said what he did. I don't even feel right "reviewing" late previews.
What the hell is "shill"?
Anyone who uses LMAO should be shot?! Come now. Calm down.

A "shill" or "to shill" is someone who promotes or publicizes their own thing by, say, giving it a good review as an outsider. For their own self-interest. Sometimes people post their eBay listings here, which is a shill. Hope that helps.
I'm seeing it in Boston in a couple weeks, can't wait!
OK, I don't even know what LMAO stands for!!
LMAO = laughing my a$$ off
That's hardly a review, just one person saying they liked what they saw in a dress rehearsal.

yeah, id appreciate a bit more details
ah well...
nice "review"
and this sounds good, anyways
I'm interested in some details, too. I've only seen two or three songs from the show performed in cabaret previously. I would defend their lyrics as not being pedestrian based on that (I haven't heard this new sampler CD yet) so I'm glad to hear anyone else saying they're smart and work in the context of the show.

How was the set?
This sort of sounds like Wedding Singer where the supporting characters steal the show and are way more interesting than the leads. Hopefully they can change that.

Although it's a review of a dress rehearsal, as long as it's positive it's fine, in my opinion. If you were to give a negative review to a show in its early stages before it was polished and finished, then that's unfair. But to say it's great even before polishing and finishing can do no harm -- it's just making a statement that it can end up being even better than it already is.
You can't just have it one way; only good word can be spread about a show before it's opened?
edit: Don't get me wrong here, I have high hopes for this show and am a fan of the director's work. However, there's been way too much of the "I heard one of the songs; BASED ON THIS, I don't want to see the show now" going on and now people are reviewing show's dress rehearsals?
I have no idea why, but I am dyinggggg to see this show! I think it's because of my John Cusack obsession.
John Cusack being reincarnated by Will Chase.
*sigh*

That's true -- that'd be like saying, "You can come see my show, but only if you write good reviews." What I mean is that when I see reviews of something like a dress rehearsal, I feel as if the person who reviewed it should only keep it to themselves unless they've got something good to say about the work-in-progress. If all they see is what's wrong with it, they need to wait for the finished project. Conversely, though, if they see greatness, I would encourage them to share how the work is so great even though it's still in progress.
This is why I'm never going to work for anything that reviews, or that gets reviews. :P
I hear you! Me neither. :)
