Hey guys since shosh is standby now and taking over the role jan. 11 i bet since Kristy Cates is understudy they will probaly move her up to stand by ok well just my call

Didn't we decide its not definite that shes taking over? It hasn't been officially announced yet right? Why dont we wait a bit-and then decide Wicked4Life.

Actually, it was officially announced that Shoshana will be taking over for Idina. And that is possible with Kristy becoming standby, and I hope she does.

Kristy is great and all..but she is kinda boring when she sings sometimes. She sings to..properly. She sings like she is in a choir. I know on Broadway you are supposed to annunciate and stuff..but she just kinda..I don't know. She's got a great voice, and I'm happy for her. She just needs to try singing more..Broadway-ish..

I hear what you are saying. Kristy is very legit and "non soulful" in her vocal riffs. More like an Ethel Merman voice but I do like her acting! She doesn't have the thrilling passion in her voice like Idina -- who is magical!

my prediction: shoshana takes over for a bit, and after stephanie gets her hold on the role on the tour, she'll come in for a quick takeover of the role on bway.

I think that it's somewhat unfair to compare one actress to another. Kristy and Idina come from very different backgrounds with their vocal training and people shouldn't expect everyone who steps into the role of Elphaba to have the same sound as Idina. I loved how Kristy had a totally different approach to the part...I think that's the mark of a true performer. It would be a great if Kristy was the new standby.

If you are judging Kristy's singing style by watching the bootleg video that's out there, you shouldn't. That was her very first performance. I talked to her out side the stage door one night (Idina was on) and she told me that after that performance (it was her first time singing with the orchestra) they told her to tone down on the "musical theater" (choir like) style and be more pop/rock sounding. I saw her go on a month or so ago and she didn't sound like she sounds on the video at all. I think she was just nervous. Plus, I personally think she and Stephanie J Block sound so much alike its crazy. My 2 cents.

Does anyone have any sound clips online of Kristy singing anything from "Wicked"? I love Idina Menzel, but I'm always interested in hearing other people's versions. Thank you!

I actually have a feeling that Eden will do it before Stephanie, but trust me they will all have their chance. Lets focus on Shoshana first though.

Kristy has a fantastic voice. She came out of CCM and her style is a little mannered, but most of us should be so gifted. She's young and can take direction. I've heard her let it rip before and as she goes on more and more, will find HER voice for the role. Love ya Kristy - hope you get it!

...What...bootleg? *hehehehe* Sorry, I understood that she was very nervous (in the description of the movie)..and she really didn't seem like it. I just figured that was her way of singing.

I hope Kristy does get ST. I was actually hoping she owuld get the part - she is a wonderfully believable Elphaba.

has it been annoucned yet cause i would really like to know reason being that who is going to replace her in the ensemble, and do they announce the new standby?
