I have to say, in my own opinion, Kristy Cates has what is takes to be Elphaba. When I saw her (live), she was beyond fantastic. So different from anyone I have seen do the role. Totally different vocal styling, more legit. Her diction was fantastic and her facial expressions fantastic.
I wish her only the best, she has a very bright future. Just think she replaced Stephanie Block when Wicked came to Broadway. Ya never know where this girl will be going.!

Cause i dont think saycon will be doing it anymore and i think kristy will just be the standby/understudy thats my understanding well yeah. So i heard she did amazing at the festival and she looked awesome in the dress and everything. So please post on this . And im not going to stop bumping this thread cause kristy is AMAZING and she deserves to have a thread just like shoshana,idina and jlt lol ok well thanks again

IT IS NOT OFFICIAL SO DONT START RUMORS UNLESS YOU KNOW. kristy will step in if anything will happen and a swing will take her spot in the ensemble. So it is not official that saycon will be the nes standby thank you

None of you have to worry about Kristy getting Standby, the role of Elphaba standby is cast and is already being rehearsed and has been for over two weeks now. It's not that hard to understand.

Posted: 1/22/05 at 4:07pmI saw a little clip of her on Broadway.com, and she sounds alright (given she was only singing w/ piano). But WICKED is a pop score, and she does not have a pop voice. Her voice is to pretty. Given, I haven't heard her belt though.
