I just wanted to tell you guys ( sorry for the Wicked thread) that Saycon Sengbloh is on the Wicked website as the standby for Elphaba. I know a bunch of us were wondering if it was definite, and she has a website too.

So...about the whole green thing...anybody else REALLY curious to see how that works out...?
Idina has said in so many of her interviews that the makeup she wore in the show was REALLY light and that you could usually see the color in her cheeks coming through and that it was lighter than most of the makeup she had worn in other shows...
Saycon has a bit more of a tan than Idina and I don't really see makeup that's not-at-all opaque doing the job. I guess we'll have to wait and see...
I am DEFINITELY interested in that first "Saycon as Elphie!!!" picture.

"Saycon has a bit more of a tan than Idina..."
Tan My Ass - she's a black woman!! LOL!
Personally, I think she'll look great in the green face paint...she'll surely look a bit more 'Wicked' than Idina did.
Vocally she's going to blow the audience away!!!
Finally, I have a reason to see Wicked a second time!!!

Posted: 2/2/05 at 12:35pmShe looks a little scandalous in some of those pictures but I would love to see her go on as Elphaba. Without the knee-high fishnets, of course. Updated On: 2/2/05 at 12:35 PM

I seriously can NOT see her as Elphaba, I'm sorry.
I saw her as Aida and she was absolutely horrible. Her singing voice is incredibly raspy and when I asked some of the people at the theatre if she was sick or if that was just normal, most of them rolled their eyes *as discreetly as possible* and replied that no, it was her normal voice.
I'll wait for a post regarding her first "going on as Elphaba" but I'm not expecting it to be good.
