Lestat reaching Broadway...tha was scary
Opening of Act 3 in "The Lord of the Rings"! Very loud!
the gunshots on the Les Mis tour were shot from right above where i was sitting. I wasn't prepared for that.
and while it wasn't that scary, the Childcatcher in Chitty seemed very dark and creepy for a children's show like that.
The chandelier in PotO scared the living daylights out of me both times live as well as in the movie theater all 5 times (surround sound = crap in pants). I believe this branches from when my brother used to close the door on me and turn off the lights while playing the overture from the OBCR... lol
Johanna with the knife in Sweeney is also quite scary.

Another one (for me) was the Cabaret song 'Money'. Just the way the girls grabbed for it and sang faster and faster.
Contrary to what many have been mentioning, I think that the most chilling part of "Sweeney Todd" is the very beginning. In the original production, grave diggers are shovelling out Sweeney's grave in front of a huge drop of the British Beehive while the disonant organ music plays in the background. Then they rip the backdrop down, the industrial whistle sounds, and the stage is plunged into darkness. I think that that is the creepiest moment in the entire production. A runner-up that I'm shocked that no one has mentioned: the Judge's version of "Johanna".

Could we be a letter better about spoiler warnings, guys?
Ten Little Indians is a very creepy play as it gets closer to the end.
SPOILER
Especially the discovery of the judge's "dead" body.
Oh sh*t, that damn chandeleir in POTO. Also when the Phantom is shooting fireballs out of his hands and when the policemen are shooting at him when they spot him in the theatre, I jump out of my seat squeeking. Loud noises just make me jumpy.

One of the most frightening moments I ever saw came from not the play itself, but a performer. Stephanie J. Block was ON FIRE when I saw Wicked with her, and during "No Good Deed" she seriously scared the crap out of me...and I'd seen the show 3 times allready.

"Chita Rivera standing on that slanted table in wet heels during the Grand Canal section of the Nine revival."
You should have seen it with Eartha Kitt
I would kill to see Eartha Kitt.

She's pretty hot for an almost 80 year old
(According to IMBD, she turns 80 in January.)
I love watching her in reruns of Batman. She's such a hot Catwoman.
In London there is a play called The Woman in Black, which is very scary, Chairs rocking by themselves, candles, screeching, smoke, and the woman in black that walks through the audience. I was sat in the middle of a bunch of school girls, that at one point were under the seats. Alot of fun, but you may pee you pants from the jumps they throw at you through ou the show!
I agree with enchanted hunter...Deathtrap. Wait Until Dark, also by Ira Levin...has the same effect and everyone screamed in unison then as well.
In Beauty and the Beast the special effects scared me a lot because i was in the front row and the were so close. Well they made me jump.
That Spider in Tarzan is by far the scariest piece of theatrics I have ever seen.
My terror mounted as the first act of Passion went (and on and on) that there would be no intermission for me to walk out during. Scary ain't the word!
