Since we have Scary Musicals, how about some scary or creepy plays and why you find them frightening...I'm easily scared, so this was simple.
Macbeth scared the hell out of me for a long time. Well, it was Lady Macbeth, mostly, because I always wondered what made her so ambitious and, um, evil.
Wozzeck. It's so claustrophobic and tense, and the scene in the bar right after Wozzeck kills Marie is off-kilter and disorienting, particularly in the opera version.
The Pillowman. Everyone will say this, but it did scare me a lot, and if you can go see it (which you really should do), don't let anyone tell you anything more about it. It's best (and scariest) if you don't know what's going to happen.
These are conventional. I hope someone makes a case for The Importance of Being Earnest soon. :)
"The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?" ... fu*king horrifying...

Dark of the Moon...it's not even the supernatural stuff that is all that scary...it's just the ambiance...and the repression that scares me the most...especially when this show is done outside as I believe it should be.

I heard Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks had audiences running from the theatre.

I just finished reading Betty's Summer Vacation by Christopher Durang and I was horrified. I had to put it down a couple of times.
Death Trap for me too.
The whistle in Sweeney made me jump out of my seat too.
bang bang youre dead CAN be really creepy if its done right.
Buffy,
I played Marvin Hudgens (the tough mountain boy - HA!) a couple years back and I have to agree that "Dark of the Moon" is a very creepy show. I enjoyed it.

I've heard from people that the off-Broadway production of Bug that recently closed was beyond terrifying.
Just reading The Distance From Here (Neil LaBute) disturbed the hell out of me...
My friend and I held hands at one point during The Pillowman. I knew what was coming, but still!

You should have seen me in Importance of Being Earnest. I was pretty dang scary.
Extremities was horrifying in the best way possible.
I didn't find it that scary...but we had people screaming during Ten Little Indians. And I don't think of Bang Bang so much as scary as just...i dunno what the word is..maybe chiling, but not in a OH I'M SCARED way.
yeah, thats why i said creepy. i was just thinking of things that could give me nightmares. and the script is really creepy and some points.

What's the Pillowman about and why is it so scary? Don't worry. I can;t see it. It'll probably close before i ever make it to NY.
'The Woman in Black'- bone chilling.
It's an opera but 'The Turn of the Screw' can also be unsettling.
Side note, can someone give me an EXTREME synopsis of Pillowman? Spoilers and all. I'm curious out of my freaking tree.
I will try to write out a synopsis for Pillowman and PM it to you guys, Noahrp and Mynameinlights.
Double post again, dammit.
