Last year my school did "Joseph and the Amazing technicolor dreamcoat".

Yep, "To Kill a Mockingbird" was a show. It was done at a local theatre near my house.

The Mecca of Education where I work won't be doing any shows this year, either. Last year they rehearsed OUR TOWN for about 6 months and then the girl who was playing Emily became pregnant. Editor Webb had already been arrested on drug charges and Mrs. Soames was sent to Ryker's Island on prositution charges. Besides, after 6 months of rehearsal, no one was off script. The whole production was scrapped.

Magic Roy - I did RUMORS last year. You'll love the show if you get cast. It's so funny. I played Ernie. It's really an ensemble show. There's no role bigger than the other. If you're good at slapstick comedy, aim for Lenny.

We did "ANYTHING GOES", "LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS," "GREASE", and "INTO THE WOODS" in HS

I wish we had done some more stuff.

My high school did 11 shows a year. 2 Musicals in the main auditoriom (about 2000 seats), 4 shows in the "Little Theatre" (500 seats) and 5 student directed shows in our black box. The big musicals were, Oklahoma, Music Man, Sound of Music, Kiss Me Kate, The Wizard of Oz, Showboat, Bye Bye Birdie and Brigadoon. Our school also did, Taming of the Shrew, Streetcar Named Desire, Children of a Lesser God, Picnic, The Importance of Being Earnest, Father of the Bride, Gypsy and more.

That's crazy! That would be so great if we did that many shows a year. That would also be great if we had a real auditorium!

Yeah, I know. We were extremely lucky. We often had to choose which show to go out for because some of them overlapped. But my high school was huge...back then I think there were about 4000 students total.

I'm at the University of Central Florida...in their musical theater program and I must say we do an alarming amount of shows per season. Right now...

3 Mainstage Musicals
6 Mainstage Plays
6 Black Box Plays

As well as...

2 Musicals at Seaside Musical Theater in Daytona for our MFA in Musical Theater Program...

They're adding an MFA in Childrens Theater next year and we're taking over another theater so we'll be doing...

5 Mainstage Plays @ UCF
3 Mainstage Musicals @ UCF
6 Black Box Shoes @ the New Theater
2-4 Mainstage Childrens Productions @ the New Theater
2 Musicals @ Seaside Musical Theater

So in essence we could be doing... 22 shows per season!

It's ridiculous!

This Fall we're doing, 'Misalliance' - Shaw, 'The Laramie Project' - Kaufman, 'Assassins' - Sondheim, 'Steel Magnolias' and 'The Marriage of Bette and Boo' - Durang

Dr.Vincento~ I would be interested in some information about your theatrical programs this year and contacting the Dept. Director. I am scheduling workshops/concerts in the Fla. area with Chuck Wagner, who hails from Pensicola. You have no contact information here, so I would appreciate if you would e-mail me at patib@pbspotlight.com Thank you.

As some may know, I offer Masterclass workshops with Broadway performers, Craig Schulman, Chuck Wagner, Danny Zolli and Broadway singer/dancer/choeg. Rene Chambers. All of my performers are happy to work with high school and college theatrical programs. Please visit my website www.pbspotlight.com. If you think your school would be interested in bringing a Broadway performer in as "Director for a day", please contact me via my website.

Thanks again to Rob for allowing me to offer my theatrical services here on the board.

I hope you all have great productions!

Pati b.
