School of Rock…13 again?

I just listened to the song from "School of Rock." It reminded me a lot of 13 -- a musical about kids that I just wasn't interested in, although it was professional and solid. I wonder if School of Rock will be the same, or will they find a way to successfully attract a non-family audience. Thoughts?

School of Rock…13 again?

It's Andrew Lloyd Webber, based off a rather popular film, and is not comprised of a completely young cast. I'm thinking of this show as more of a Matilda than a 13.

That's interesting. Did Matilda attract adults? I thought it was the family audience that was keeping it going.

The movie attracted more than a family audience. (Personally, I'm with you - I have no desire to see it.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

School of Rock…13 again?

I really didn't care for the SOR movie at all..but I really enjoyed the first preview last night. The energy and talent of the kids ..and Alex Brightman's performance were worth the visit to me. The whole show was just fun.

I didn't see 13 so I can't comment on that but I can see it appealing to the same audiences as Matilda -in the sense that it has appeal for both adult and children who are not that young (I don't believe a show is necessary only a kids show because there are kids in it). Matilda the movie is more of a kid movie - though I personally enjoyed both of them...and I have been an adult for a long time..LOL
