Sorry, a Wicked post... but I'm curious lol. Oh, theres a SPOILER, for those who havent seen the show.
When Sean is on as the Wizard, does he record a version of the opening? Now that I write this, it sounds stupid for him not to, but whatever lol.
Also, has anyone seen him in the role?

what do you mean-he appears in the opening, as does the understudy for him who plays the father.
HE WAS GREAT!

I still love the irony that Sean's track makes him most of the guys in the show, along with saying things like "I hear her soul is so unclean, pure water can melt her!"
That, and being her "father" (And, when he's on as The Wizard, her Father)
(I structured that paragraph really terribly. Oh well)

I did mean that, I should have specified lol, sorry.
When I saw the show, I noticed him onstage in like every scene. Very talented. I wish I had seen him as the Wizard, as I did not enjoy George Hearn in the least

Posted: 11/14/04 at 9:24pmYes, they did record his voice for that. I saw him twice as the Wizard and he was the only wizard I ever saw, and I LOVED him! Of course I was sorry we couldn't see Joel Grey (as was my sister, who has a major crush on Joel Grey: "He's so cute!") Anyway he was really great and so nice at the stagedoor. Does anyone know when he is leaving?

I've worked him as well...very very talented.
And he is in like every scene in wicked. Even if you look in the program, he's in nearly every picture. And, for some reason, they all say "Seant McCourt and Chorus."

it is because Mr. McCourt is the most well known ensemble member, not to mention the best (that said the whole ensemble is amazing).
What did you guys work with him in.

And he is AMAZINGLY talented.

I saw Sean as the Wizard and loved him...I personally was happy that I wasn't seeing Joel Grey because he irritates me. Plus, Sean was really nice and spoke for like 5 minutes with me at the stage door about Bat Boy.
And in answer to your question, yes they used his voice in the beginning for "Have another drink my dark eyed beauty..."

Posted: 11/14/04 at 10:15pmI thought Sean was amazing as the Wizard - and I've seen 4 Wizards! He was also great as Dillamond. But when he does those roles I do miss him in his regular track. Updated On: 11/16/04 at 10:15 PM

I'd suspect Robert Morse, from the SF run?

What's ironic about that, I'm wondering. Am I missing something?
Also, I don't think that the "pure water can melt her" is sung by Sean - is it? It doesn't sound like him. In addition to Elphaba's father, he is the teacher that replaces Dillamond (Bat Boy flashbacks, anyone, with the syringe?) and one of the palace guards ("there's a goat on the lamb, sir"), among others. Oh yeah, he's also the train conductor who says "all aboard" or something.... and "The Wizard will see you now!" from "One Short Day".
I've seen him as the Wizard, too, and he's fantastic. He's very agile so he puts his own stamp on the dancing. He has a great voice that's unique, and when he's on as the Wizard I miss him in his usual track too.

Perhaps ironic was not the best word choice. I meant that I think it's a/an (possible) interesting bit of commentary.. having the same actor play all the characters that male characters that are the darker forces against Elphie. Maybe I am reading too much into it, and they just decided Sean was the best for each!
I was lucky enough to see him as The Wizard as well. Afterwards, he was very kind and seemed amazed people knew who he was.. not to mention recognizing him from Bat Boy. A great person, indeed.

Huh, well I swore I heard him sing it sometime, perhaps I am mistaken!
Thanks,
