Hi everyone, just found this board and it looks great. There's so much information here.
We are planning a trip to NY to see Phantom of the Opera. I am in the process of purchasing tickets but really am not sure of the best place to sit. Would the first few rows of the orchestra be best or would the first few rows of the front mezzanine be better? Thanks so much for your help.
If you sit cloes in the orch you see more details I personally like it there. But you have to look UP for like 5 minutes or so and that can be annoying.
With front Mez everything is in front of you. You get a nice panoramic view of the stage.

don't sit too far up close in the orchestra. i think it's a little distracting to see the mics sticking out of their hair lol. i think seating past row D is good. the front mezz is pretty nice and much better than the back orchestra like in the Qs and Rs. don't settle for rear mezz seats! you can always get orch with coupon codes

The front row of Mezz is overhanging Orchestra row J, so if you go with the Orch seats, try to avoid rows K to X. Mezz is hanging very low so it will block your view.
Mezz is quite steep so all front mezz seats are excellent.

I sat in the front of the mezz and it was farther away than I thought it would be. It was pretty far. It is VERY steep so you can definetly see everything, just not up close. You get the whole picture nicely though. And welcome to the boards!
I love seeing their mic! Go with the orch, you'll feel more involved and see the wonderful costumes better.
def., but dont sit too far back, last year i saw it, and couldn't see half of the chandelier(sp?)...that sucked.
I sat in row H of the orchestra last time and those were fantastic seats. I wouldn't recommend mezz, be in front or back, because I'd rather see facial expressions and details up-close at the expense of having to tilt my head to see the things at extreme angles once in a while. (I had the misfortune of sitting at the back, and while you get to see the big spectacle without craning your neck, everything looks miniscule!)

Thank you everyone for being so helpful. You guys are great. Thanks Ashley for the welcome.
Yeah, I've been in the back of the orchestra and the mezz almost completely blocked my view during the end of Act One, and also some of the chandelier. But it was cozy under there:)

I had front row seats and they were great! I, personally, love being able to see their mics and stuff... and seeing the lace-front of Anne Runolfsson's wig slowly unstick from her forehead LOL! If you are very close to the front, you will have to look way up to the ceiling at one point for a few minutes... I won't give anything away though! And it has nothing to do with the chandelier...!
lol joshua! i saw some wayward costumes too :) personally i thought the mics were a little distracting but being close enough to see the expressions on their faces is priceless...or at least worth the extra few bucks. mia, shell out a little for this one! (you can get the best seats in the orchs for $55-65 if you plan ahead enough) it's my favorite broadway show.

Juliet, where can you find tickets for that price? I am now looking for the first few rows in the orchestra. Oh, thanks for the info.
