#1Seating at the Belasco for Dear Evan Hansen- Row A (three rows back) too close?

Hi all,
I'm looking to buy tickets for Dear Evan Hansen and am wondering if Center Orchestra, Row A (three rows back) is too close. I saw DEH in DC and I think we were in the 2nd row, which was a bit too close as we had to really had to look up at the stage (plus we got rained on by Ben Platt's spit!). Also considering Row J, Center Orchestra (off-center) and Row J, Right Orchestra, aisle seats. My husband is tall and leg room is an issue for him. We've never been to the Belasco so I'm not sure about seating.
Thanks!

I prefer being close, so I'm the wrong person to ask for that aspect, especially since my most-recent show at the Belasco was Hedwig where close was also preferred.
BUT as a tall dude, for Hedwig, I always tried to get the aisle for row BB, since it pretty much unobstructed in front of you, as there are less seats in AA. The other good option for being tall there is to get on the side orchestra, and then you have the aisle to use a bit for that...

Is Row C a little obstructed too? Or it it in the perfect area.

For Blackbird, I sat orchestra center BB (1 row in front of A). I too prefer to be very close and loved it. I missed very little being that close, but all of Blackbird is staged at the front center.
I was just about to buy tickets for DEH and was debating row A versus the premium seats of B. The set doesn't look too high (per my brief google search), but maybe others can comment on the staging (whether a lot takes place in the back of the stage or if there is an upstairs). If the set is like the Humans or Next to Normal, I might get premium tickets.

Obstructed how? You talking about extreme sides or something? They typically sell these as premium in the center, so no.

As far as I can tell, Row C is considered premium seating and, sadly, I don't know if I can justify paying close to $200 per ticket, especially since I might try to sneak in another show that weekend for us.

Alternately, I bought a first row center balcony seat for the first preview. Is that too far? If I truly like the show, which I’m assuming I will, I plan on returning later in the run to sit closer.

Thanks! My husband needs the leg room, but viewpoint isn't really a big deal for him. Leg room is never an issue for me, as I'm short, but then I usually can't see! I do remember for DEH, my neck was killing me from straining upward at the stage, but he was perfectly fine. Maybe the solution is to ditch my husband as my theater partner and spend money just on an excellent ticket for myself ![]()

There was another thread where people seemed to like row A in that theatre. I initially ordered further back in row J but telecharge kindly let me switch it to row A.

Considering the pervasiveness of the projections in this show, I, personally, would prefer sitting mid-orch or in the front mezz/balcony in order to get a full view of the stage.

The band is located on a platform above the house left side but the set itself doesn't have a second level. Some things that happened further upstage and to the sides in DC were reconfigured to bring them downstage center at 2ST and unless there's any drastic change to the staging for Broadway, other than wider use of the stage for group numbers or an occasional character (mostly Alana), not much other than the projections occurs upstage.
ETA: I sat front row at Arena and agree that stage was high but that was still my favorite seat, maybe because it was the first time. I think I enjoyed it more there on later visits when I was upstairs compared to another visit in the rear orchestra. I was within the first 5 rows at 2ST with the stadium style setup, so height wasn't quite the same issue but obviously your stage picture is more focused being that close - which I liked due to the emotional impact of the performances. I was up top for Blackbird and didn't mind it at all.

I'm sorry, I too meant Row A. Looked at the seating chart and didn't realize that AA and BB started it.

I like siting close, and we were 4th row center at the show's off Broadway run. It was perfect. However, maybe bring a raincoat... ![]()

I saw DEH a couple months ago and I was in the 4th row aisle, which were great seats. Overall, this is a fairly intimate show and I would say facial expressions are fairly important to be able to see. I too love to sit close so for the Broadway run I got row A orchestra center on the aisle.
There are no seats for sale in the first two rows for any dates so I am not sure if they are removing those two rows for this production, or if they will be sold later.
The Belasco stage is moderately high. Who knows if DEH will add any height to the stage, but my guess would be no so I think row A will be good. As Kad said, there are a lot of projections, so I debated between orch row A and front row mez, but as a person who saw DEH at second stage and who has seen a bunch of shows at the Belasco, I ended up choosing orch row A, if that is any help to you.
