Secret Garden

I LOVE Secret Garden. I was in it in High School (Dickon & Albert Lennox) Were any of you fortunate enought to see it on Broadway???

And you think of all of the things you've seen, and you wish that you could live in between ,and you're back again only different than before... After the Sky. -Into the Woods (Jack)

I was! It was actually the first show I saw on Broadway. I was only 8 years old, but I was blown away by it and am now in love with Broadway because of it! The OBCR is amazing, everyone should check it out.

I have the cd and script... people just don't know the show...its too bad... there is talk of reviving it....

I haven't seen it, but I have the CD and I love the songs, especially I heard someone crying. The book is also really good, I actually just started reading it on Sunday! Its a real classic!

I would love to see Secret Garden return to Broadway with a wonderful cast. Such great characters and the music is delightful. It's on my little dream list of "revivals" too.

I saw it and loved it too! The music was beautiful and the cast was perfect. I was a John Cameron Mitchell fan the minute I heard him sing that day! :)

Saw it on tour..it was gorgeous...one of my favorite shows and very underrated.

The Secret Garden is one of my favorite shows (even though I have never had the chance to see it live). I have the cd and I was taken in by the goregous score. Rebecca Luker is absolutely phenominal as Lily (no one can beat her "oooos" at the beginning of I Heard Someone Crying). A few years ago I caught Mozart's Requiem performed by Apollo's Fire (a baroque orchestra in Cleveland) and the soprano soloist had the perfect voice for Lily, she floated over all of the high passages and it was one of the best voices I have ever heard. If they do revive the show I just hope for a good Lily and Archibald. A friend of mine suggested Laura Benanti for Lily and she does have a good voice but the break in her voice is to obvious and Lily has to float through the score. I just hope that if they do revive it that they don't bring over the version that played in London. The score was altered to the point that it wasn't even recognizable.

I can see this is the wrong place for this comment but...I am not too terribly impressed with anything on that OBCR. It's not awful..just not my cup of tea, i guess.

This is one of my favorite shows. The thing I like best about it (and the thing the people who don't like it seem to harp on the most), is how unabashedly sentimental the show is. It wears its heart on its sleeve. I'll be playing Archibald Craven soon, and I am so looking forward to it.

I've been two regional productions playing Neville - its a wonderful piece of theatre and is so much fun to learn and perform.

"I don't really get the ending,all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang,and later she kissed him on the toilet,after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung,and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen,and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady?Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

This is probably my first Cast Recording taht I fell in love with when I was a youngun' and it first came out. I am pretty sure it led into a career in theatre. Also Into the Woods was very influential for me.

It's one of those shows that the cast album makes seem wonderful but the actual show itself isn't as good as the recording. Saw it on Broadway, saw it on tour, done the show twice.

The entire thing isn't as good as its individual parts.

i saw it and was in it at my camp (dickon) loved it and winters on the wing is in my repetoire but its amazing i love it anywayz
all the songs

I saw it at Theatre by the Sea in RI.
I really love this musical.
I have the CD in my car and listen to it often.
The music is enchanting.
You may like to visit my tribute (In the works)
at theatrelives dot org.
I'm just working on the pages, so be patient, but you
may enjoy seeing how this production was done - the costumes
and all.
I went 4 times, and wish I'd gone more.
I often search for a new production.
I prefer a smaller (under 1000 seats) theatre that
still uses pro performers.
Getting harder to find them.
Theatre by the Sea has closed;
Goodspeed (another local) may move to a larger building
and town.

I've never been to Broadway, Or NYC for that matter.
Live in Conn.
But if Secret Garden were their, I'd go.

this is one of my favorite shows EVER....I have posted many times how much I love the closing of act 1 (and won't do it again)...great show, lush score and full of emotion!

The Broadway production was beautiful -- the set was magnificent and I liked the staging....

I purchased this music not too long ago, but I haven't got around to listening to more than just a few songs. It just didn't grab me in like other shows. Ah well, I'll eventually get around to listening to it.

I saw it on Broadway when Howard McGillin had replaced Mandy Patinkin. He was quite marvelous.

I think THE SECRET GARDEN has the potential for being a very good show. The Broadway production was so poorly directed that it was a mish-mash. During intermission people were asking each other whether certain characters were alive or dead. A good directorial vision would eleminate that sort of confusion.
