Even though I don't wear show shirts "out" - I still sleep in that shirt because I think it's so amazingly pretty. I can't give it up... and it's starting to fade.
Loved that show.
Loved that show.
Now what would you say if today I started over?
Without a thing but this taped together four leaf clover
And I'll pretend like everything is already alright
And I'll run toward the sun till the castle's out of sight

I don't like the logo and I don't like the show. Funny how it coincides.
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

I love them both as well

CapnHook and munkustrap178, are you two related? I see a resemblance.
Anyway, I can't comment on the show because I've never seen it although I'm familiar with the book and its many movie incarnations. However, I have to agree with Capn on this one. I don't like the logo. It looks too crowded, like someone didn't put much effort into creating it.

It's a beautiful logo. Never saw the show, but I love the score.

The logo is too much for me. If I wanted to see something that artsy in NYC, I'd go to the MET.
Show's not too fantastic either. Fun to perform in, horrible to watch.

Saw the show as a 12 year old who the night before had experienced the letdown of his short life at Phantom. I found Secret Garden mesmerizing and beautiful. It really kickstarted my love of musicals on a larger scale.
I think the logo is beautiful and perfectly fits the show, which is itself crowded with characters and themes and adorned with beautiful imagery.
One pet peeve: with all the fuss they make about Mary having Lily's hazel eyes, you'd think Doug Johnson (the designer) would have made them match. Instead, if you look closely, you'll see that they're blue.

I've always felt that Doug Johnson was one of Broadway's unjustly unsung poster designers. His artwork for "Secret Garden" and "Big River" hang on my walls. And I can't stand "Big River"...

Now I'm joining sondheimboy on a threadjack, but what has always impressed me about Doug Johnson's work is that it runs the gamut of styles. Big River and Secret Garden are opulent and beautiful. Tommy and How to Succeed at choppy but very iconic. To look at it all you'd think it was the work of several people.

I'd forgotten that he did those two. He's one of those artists who always delivers, even if the show doesn't. Have you seen the poster he did for "Onward Victoria"? It makes you want to see the show...

He was a good designer indeed...but he has had a few head scratchers along with the winners. Like these two lulus.

I love the logo. The show is AMAZING!
I saw it multiple times --not on Broadway, but a VERY well done community theater production years ago, which starred Amanda Bynes as Mary and Jenna Leigh Green as Martha. Can you just imagine how FANTASTIC it was?!?
Oh, by the way this was back in 1996 ...

I like the basic idea of the logo, but what the hell is that cobra doing there? There no snakes in the show. It makes it seem like the show is all set in India.
