It's also good to watch "Clash of the Titans" too... after you see the show, you'll understand why.

I wouldn't see the movie first. Have a great time at the show!

Too many references are in the show that'll be missed if you don't see the film first -- from Kira's faux Australian accent (reference to Olivia Newton-John) to (as mentioned above) the film CLASH OF THE TITANS and even how Kerry sings her songs.

As bad as the film is (I personally love it for all the obvious reasons, mostly the score), the Broadway production IS paying heavy homage to it, so it does help to know the film. Especially how the muses come to life at the show's beginning (direct homage to the film).

Of course, you don't have to see he film first, but boy... does it help you appreciate what the creators of the Broadway production were going for when they adapted the film into a musical.

One of the many Olivia Newton-John bits in the show:

Brody, I got all those references just from knowing ABOUT the movie. I still don't think it is necessary to sit through it, just familiarize yourself with it (even at a distance).

Olivia in the movie's finale (title number).

I am totally watching this again when I get home.

That's not her costume for the finale' "Xanadu" song.

This is what she's wearing for that song:

Actually, she goes through a costume change during the number. The picture I posted does occur during the song when she reappears for the final chorus of the song. She then stands on the lighted disc in the center of the stage and her costume magically reverts back to the original costume from "I'm Alive" (along with the other Muses) and she beams up into the heavens.

I stand corrected.

And the morons who've NEVER seen this film swear to never see it.

Whatever happened to judging something on your own.

I LOVE this film and am proud to say I have both the original film soundtrack AND the original Broadway cast recording on my iPhone and I proudly own the DVD of both the Broadway version and this film version.

Here she is at the 1981 Academy Awards when she won the Oscar for playing Kira in the film version of XANADU:

NO....don't watch it before....but DO watch it after......
we enjoyed it after, and laughed ourselves silly how bad the movie was......but the Broadway version is WONDERFUL!
