Sorry if there's already an existing thread on this, but I'm having trouble finding one. What's your general opinion on seeing a matinee the Sunday of Broadway Flea? I'm going with people who aren't huge theater nerds like myself (they're just kind of coming for the experience) and I'm thinking of taking them to see Head Over Heels (because I know they'll have an interest in it, despite reviews) but I'm worried about missing too much of Flea or something like that. Anyone have a thought?

I’m seeing Anastasia that day. If I miss something, I miss something but I can’t imagine missing much since the actors will be at their shows.
If your friends don’t want to see a show, I have an extra Anastasia ticket since my friend bailed on me.

Be aware that there probably won't be stage door that day. I saw Anastasia last year on Flea day, and there was no stage door. I don't know if that's important to you (I know not everyone stage doors), but just wanted to give you a heads-up.

Actually, Head Over Heels, is the perfect show to see that day, especially if the matinee starts at 2:00. It is not very long and will get you out in time to take advantage of when the tables start reducing prices. They only thing you may miss is the time slots for the autograph table. I would much rather see a show, especially if you are from out of town.

Thanks for the heads up! I remember Christy on her live last year saying they werent going to stage door because of Flea. I have a feeling that they won’t this year too. We have done the Anastasia stage door after we saw it a few months ago and everyone is so sweet and kind! We stopped by yesterday but it was so crowded and decided not to join the line since we didn’t see the show and we wanted those who saw the show to have a wonderful stage door experience. We saw Spongebob but they didn’t have the stage door ropes set up yesterday afternoon.

Very doable to see a matinee on Flea Market Day! Especially if you arrive at the Flea at 10 or 11...you'll need a break!

I did this during my first Flea Market in 2010. I went and saw Patrick Stewart and T.R Knight in A LIFE IN THE THEATRE for $26. It was a nice 90 minute show that broke up the day.
Just be warned that, depending on the show, some of the cast might not be able to stage door, either through agreement with BC/EFA or just logistically speaking because the tables and the flow of the market block up the sidewalks.

There was a stage door, although only Rachel Bay Jones, Kristolyn Lloyd, and Asa Somers came through. Not sure if the others decided not to stage door because of the flea market, because it was Ben Platt's birthday, or because they just had other plans. But I think seeing a matinee on flea day is perfect! I would check out the autograph table and selfie booth ahead of time, to plan what time you want to do those, if you want to do so.
