Posted: 9/25/04 at 11:19pmHey guys. Im planning on seeing a show with a few of my friends (14 y/o) and I dont know what to get tickets to. It has to be on discounts and I was considering Movin Out but Im not sure if that will appeal to everyone. Ive seen practically everything else on discounts and wanted to see something new. Any ideas?

While the Producers may not be exactly appropriate, it is on discounts now and probably won't be a lot. I haven't really seen any discounts for the Producers, except now. It's up to you to decide how appropriate something is.
Otherwise, go see Hairspray or Beauty and the Beast.

Posted: 9/25/04 at 11:33pmA ton of Hairspray cast members are leaving on Oct. 3rd so if you go to see that, go before then. You could wait until All Shook Up comes out, too. Fun fun show. Beauty and the Beast is also great. Brooke was awesome (I reviewed her on the boards and just saw her again yesterday) but she leaves January 9th. What kinds of shows do you like? -Penny

I don't know if Producers/WT are really the tastes of a 14 year old (not to stereotype, or anything, even though I...am.).
Hmm...you've gotta do discounts? What about Rent or Chicago?

I would definately recommend Movin' Out. I saw it last month and it was amazing!!! Although, you're right, it might not appeal to everyone, and unless your friends are Billy Joel or Twyla Tharp fans they might not like it. I'm a 15 y/o dancer so naturally, I loved it, and I went with my parents, who grew up listening to Billy Joel, so they had a great time. I loved it so much that I'm going again in March with my friend (who's also a dancer) for her 18th/my 16th birthday! I guess you should just explain the premise of the show to your friends, and tell them that the show is non-stop dancing performed to Billy Joel songs sung by a live band. No dialouge!! If you do see Movin' Out, I'm sure you will have a great time!!
Also--if you go to MO, before you see the show, I recommend getting the soundtrack--it's awesome!!

Posted: 9/26/04 at 12:46amAlong with HAIRSPRAY, PRODUCERS, and BEAUTY & THE BEAST let me add BOMBAY DREAMS. I think it would hold their attention. Colorful, energetic, with a simple plot.

I would see 'Dracula' it fits October and is on a discount at the moment, it is also very entertaining, IMO. But, I would also check out 'Brooklyn' where you can get $50 tickets
