Sending Mail to Theatres?

As a healthcare worker who’s very very tired of this pandemic, I fully agree with and support the Broadway League’s and Equity’s current policy on “stage-dooring”, meet and greets, etc. Some shows have also posted messages that they will not be able to accept “gifts or items for signing.”

Does anyone know how this applies to mailing something to the theatre for a cast member/musician/etc? Would this be acceptable?

Thanks for your thoughts!

A letter is very different from a package. Yes, you can still feel free to send correspondence to any theatre. Regular mail was cleared of all COVID dangers over a year ago.

What do you mean by "Some shows have also posted messages that they will not be able to accept 'gifts or items for signing'" . Where are these postings? Like a paper taped to the stage door?

tbc these signs address physically tendering something at the stage door (which is prohibited) and do not speak to mailing something, which is the question being asked. NB that it is a Federal offense to dump US Mail individually addressed to another person although of course there can be mail handling protocols and individual directions regarding mail handling.

Hmm interesting! Thank you for posting those notices. I'm planning on sending to a few theatres, specifically stage managers, to get updated playbills. Nothing signed. Just new playbills for my binder. I will report back if I get anything.

These photos are for the OTHER person asking about the postings at theatres stating “no gifts”, etc.  The photos weren’t for the original post asking about mailing a letter.  Geez, Louise and God Almighty!

I’ve been wondering if Schmackarys has seen an uptick of orders being sent to shows that are now open.

Quite possibly.  I sent a box of 50 little Schmakarys to the cast of "Chicago" last Thursday, Sept. 16th.  It was delivered and consumed.

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I wrote to the following stage managers for updated/reopening playbills. All requests were mailed on 10/1:

-Hadestown - rec’d back today (10/16)
-Lion King - rec'd back 10/21 along with a very nice note with the playbill and a fun sticker too
-Aladdin - rec’d back 10/26.
-Chicago
-Moulin Rouge
-Chicken & Biscuits

I will update this post with the dates when I receive the new playbills!

Was Six's stage door policy announced? I saw one of the actresses on Instagram taking photos at the stage door with fans.

I'm not going to mention any names here, but a friend of mine is in a Broadway show and I had no difficulty sending backstage a box of veggies from my garden when I saw his show.

I didn’t want to create a new thread since my question relates to this topic. Does anyone know if the touring theatres will send playbills? And if so, how far in advance should I request one? For example, Hadestown. They’re in Boston now and another theatre in two or so weeks. Would I write to the future theatre 3 weeks out for the Hadestown playbill? Just so my envelope gets there in time?
