Seth Rudetsky as Man in Chair
Seth Rudetsky as Man in Chair#1

This is something that I put in another thread, so now I'm putting it under a more noticeable title.
I think Seth Rudetsky would be pretty good as the Man in Chair in Drowsy Chaperone. He sounds like Bob Martin and adores the show already. Any comments?

I don't read him as being too young at all. Especially since Bob Martin looks 35 and Seth doesn't seem that far off.
Then again, I never regarded the role as being so age particular.

Posted: 3/26/07 at 9:02pmI think he'd be PERFECT! I saw it three times with Bob, but I'd run back to see it with Seth!

Posted: 3/26/07 at 9:05pmHe could definitely do it, but he sort of strikes me as the type who'd go too far with his adlibs. Not that I don't love his random tangents (seriously, some of the things he wrote in his GREASE recaps nearly made me cry from laughing so hard), but I can see him taking away from the show.

He'd be AWESOME! He's not too young. And if anyone recently saw him in TORCH SONG TRILOGY with the Gallery Players as Arnold, you know he's a great actor!

Now there's a man who is pretty much man in chair's real life counterpart...sustitute powerbars for cereal and eliminate Seth's boyfriend...hmmm

Posted: 3/26/07 at 9:32pmAs much as I love Seth, I really don't think it would work. The role does need a man obsessed with Broadway, but Man in Chair seems more shy and reserved.

He might not be as reserved in real life, but I'd like to imagine there's hope for people to ACT in a way they wouldn't normally be... I'd love to see Seth Rudestsky in anything. I think he'd be quite a powerful Elphaba, and an even more compelling Glinda.

I've seen Seth Rudetsky attempt to act, and it ain't pretty. He's fabulous at what he does, but an actor he surely is not.
[I know this probably sounds harsh, but it is not intended to be.]

I think he's a good actor. He was fantastic in TORCH SONG TRILOGY.

I tend to agree with you. He's more of a personality than an actor.
