This would make Hee Haw The Musical look like A Chorus Line in comparison
If one needed proof of the further dumbing down of Broadway this would be it. People are complaining about a Lil Abner revival & yet this is being contemplated.

I wonder if people said the same thing when, in 1982, someone wanted to turn a bad sci-fi B movie about a killer plant into a musical. Just a couple weeks ago people were still singing high praises about that one. Maybe we should wait and see what becomes of it and how it is before we proclaim it the end of Broadway as we know it.

There is a difference between a cult movie with an actual cast & one centered around man eating sharks flying around on land. It is catering to the lowest common denominator. If it is your cup of tea, great. I will pass on it thank you.

I don't see why it couldn't work in a similar fashion to the Evil Dead musical. If it's smart and has its tongue firmly planted in its cheek it could be very amusing.

If you think it would entertain you fine. It is a shame something like this would be a success but quality shows like Bridges and The Visit do not make it.I guess it is all a matter of taste.

hmm, one movie has a plant that grows rapidly and talks and thrives on blood and is a killer plant. The other has man eating sharks all over the place. Man eating sharks are more realistic than man eating plants.
p.s. Roxy-don't tell anyone, but Sharknado is a cult movie.

The Roger Corman film did not start life as a cult classic though, and Sharknado may be on the path to becoming one. Everyone seems to be familiar with the film. It has been talked about and joked about on most of your talk shows. It has become a must see film for its sheer badness. In the coming years it will probably be bundled in one of those boxes of 20 cult films for $5 just like the Corman films.
This will likely be a silly and campy musical, but we have no idea whether or not it is truly sinking to the lowest common denominator until we see or hear something from it. I may pass on it as well, but I think more information is needed before we proclaim it to be garbage. Like you, I can be a pretty snooty person about all things theatre, but I would rather be snooty with reason.
