Make sure you guys catch Shoshana singing 'Ain't No Way' on the 10th Annual Lady Of Soul Awards. Channel 11 in NYC @ 8 PM.

Shoshana Bean, who currently stars as the green-faced Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked, will perform on the "Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards" Sept. 17.

The awards, which honor the top female R&B, rap/hip-hop and gospel artists, will be broadcast in the metropolitan area at 8 PM ET on Channel 11; check local listings. Former Aida Toni Braxton will co-host the awards with Ciara and Brian McKnight.

Aretha Franklin will receive the Lena Horne Award for Outstanding Career Achievement. Franklin will duet with Stevie Wonder — who will present Franklin with her award — on "Until You Come Back to Me."

Others set to perform include Amerie, Braxton, John Legend and McKnight.

Shoshana Bean, who is currently starring as Elphaba in Broadway's Wicked, played Shelley in the original cast of the Tony-winning musical Hairspray. Originally from Portland, Oregon, Bean attended the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music before heading to NYC. She was first cast in the Off-Broadway production of Godspell and then in the national tour of Leader of the Pack. Bean was also seen in the all-star Hair benefit concert. The singer-actress is currently working on her debut solo album for Pure Records.

I want to watch it, because I want to see Shoshana in her element and to see the audience reaction. But does anyone have any clue if it's being broadcast on a station outside of New York? I just checked TVguide.com and I couldn't find it. I'm in Seattle, if anyone knows.

Im also excited to see Shoshana singing in her own element, doing her own thing. Should be amazing!

WOW!! For anyone that was lucky enough to see that girl wail on the awards show, good for you.
Let me just say.....AMAZING.

AWESOME. AWESOME. AWESOME.

She will be outta Wicked and on to her own show and cocerts soon.

I hope she takes this amazing exposure and runs with it.

Aretha never looks thrilled unless it's HER singing the song. Or HER riffing her ass off on stage.

that's just me, I'm not a fan of Aretha.

I did catch Shoshana, and she was TERRIFIC. Actually, the best performance out of the whole night. Now, I LOVE Aretha, but her reaction to Shoshana was uncalled for. Instead of her being happy and proud that such a talent did a wonderful thing with her song, She looked pissed and a little jealous. It was not cool. Anyway, Shoshana did a terrific job.

I like her version of "Ain't no Way" She sang the heck out of that song. Now I can only imagine how it sounded live. I know she tore that song up.

She was very good. a bit pitchy, but who notices except people like me.:)And I'm sure Aretha appreciated it. She's like that after anyone performs her songs or performs period. And let's not forget, that is ARETHA'S song. To me her signature song.
