I need help with this! I've read everything about both of them and I'm going up there in a week or so. I currently have a ticket to "Purple", however, I'm second guessing that. Could you please tell me which show you would choose(I'm sure most ppl will say "Drowsy") and why. Thanks!
I'd say that Drowsy isn't going to be around as long.

I had that feeling, plus we all know that Purple is touring and I cant really see Drowsy touring.
Why don't you think Drowsy will be on a while or tour?

If you know somewhat about the theater, and like a sort of twenties sort of farcical thing, then Drowsy is good. Plus, Bob martin is phenominally funny, and down-to-earth. The Color Purple is sweet, and really makes you think, and is just a nice, sort of biography-musical.
So, even IF Drowsy wins best musical, you guys don't think it will stikc around? Well, maybe it won't. I don't really think it will have a different cast, especially not a different man in chair.
TCP can get handed down with lots of different casts.
You'll have a nice time at either.
Enjoy the show, whichever you choose!

I haven't seen any of them, but here's what I can say based on what I know about the actors, the show, and my sister's experience with "The Color Purple".
My sister has actually seen "The Color Purple" with the original cast, and she reports that she actually liked it because of the many things that tie nicely together in the end. The end is cool, she says. However, in her experience, she also says that the time that it takes to get to the ending is, no offense to Oprah or anyone like that, rather boring and nothing special. As a whole, she preferred DRS.
If I were to choose, I'd choose the Drowsey Chaperone, simply because I've listened to the OCR of The Color Purple, and it really isn't all that impressive. It's currently collecting dust in the car. As far as "The Drowsey Chaperone" is concerned, I could listen to Sutton Foster over and over again (well, at least Sutton Foster in the two songs that I've heard her sing.). Besides, whereas the Color Purple is, according to sister, dull, The Drowsey Chaperone is supposed to be a comedy, and although comedies can be bad, comedies are rarely dull (at least in my experience, anyways). So go with Drowsey.

I'd say see Drowsy. It's a fantastic show, and really you are laughing for practically the whole show.
The Color Purple all the way
You already have a ticket to COLOR PURPLE --- buy a $25 last row Mezz ticket to DROWSY... then you can see both!!!

I cant do that
. Its an "either or" thing. Now I just need to figure out how I can sell my Purple ticket...is it easy to sel stuff on Ebay? Thanks for all the responces!
See Drowsy on Broadway and Purple on tour. The original cast of Drowsy is incredible. Saw it last night. And I expect it may tour. Your don't have to know a lot about twenties music or musicals to enjoy it. Color Purple is also wonderful, but Drowsy will have you walking on air when you leave!!!
I loved both. LOVED THEM. But to be honest I liked The Color Purple more. Much more.
I saw both shows twice and I loved them both for different reasons.
Also see Jersey Boys! And History Boys! Both outstanding.
Beth Leavel is outstanding in Drowsy.
Felicia blew me away and than did it again. The WOMAN HAS SOUL.
She has strength. She has the most gorgeous voice and she gives 1000 percent in the entire show.
HELL, YES!
And I want her to win. Hell, Yes!

It really comes down to if you'd prefer heartfelt comedy (Drowsy is NOT pure fluff) or soulful drama...
