I hate to make another thread about this but I need some help. My next New York trip is the first week of June and I couldn't be more excited. I already have tickets for: Dear Evan Hansen, Come From Away, and Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812, but I can't come to a conclusion for my two open slots. If any of you could provide your opinion for what other two shows I should see from the options that I have listed down below, I would be appreciative. Some shows I like range from Gypsy, Side Show, American Psycho, Cabaret, The Color Purple, Next to Normal, Sunday in the Park With George, Follies, Pippin, Caroline, or Change, Fun Home, Waitress, and Bridges of Madison County just to name a few.

Show Options:

- War Paint (Love Patti and Christine)

- Anastasia

- Miss Saigon

- Amélie

- Groundhog Day

What shows do you like? There's no objective right answer to these questions. It all depends on your taste. If you tell us something about what you like, we might be able to recommend what else you'd like, instead of having just another thread where everyone lists their favorite currently running shows.

If you can get a ticket to Sunset BLVD, get to see it before it closes in late June. I think tickets are going to be harder to get on its last weeks.

Okay, so you seem to like shows with real plots, and perhaps a bit of a message? Those are all beautiful shows, but nothing frivolous, and you seem to prefer slightly heavier fare. In that case, I'd definitely skip Groundhog Day and Amelie. If you love the actresses, see War Paint, since you'll likely never have the opportunity to see those two together again. After that, maybe Miss Saigon (though read the reviews, a lot of people still find it offensive, even with the changes/updates. I haven't seen this production so I can't comment) or Anastasia for the music.

I just went to New York last week, and saw Great Comet and Dear Evan Hansen of the shows that you're already seeing. I tried to see Groundhog Day on a Monday, but we couldn't get tickets together, so we saw Phantom instead.

Groundhog Day got plenty of good reviews, although a lot of that was for Karl, who probably will only make occasional appearances due to his injury. His understudy has gotten positive notices here, though. I like the film on which the musical is based.

I considered War Paint because I figured it was a chance to see two big Broadway stars in a decent, if not great, musical. You seem like big fans of the two performers. Why make it complicated?

I also considered Sunset Boulevard, which is darker fare that your recommendations indicate you prefer and a star turn by Glenn Close. I had seen it before, back in the 1990s, but it's not on your list.

I would go with War Paint (especially if you love Patti and Christine), Miss Saigon, or Groundhog Day. Amelie and Anastasia are not worth seeing IMO.

Another voter for Miss Saigon and Groundhog Day. Neither are perfect, but they make a nice evening/afternoon.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
