I Do! I Do! ties with Mary Martin (4) - Robert Preston (1)
Um, MTVMANN, if you honestly think taht Ehle won because her name comes first alphabetically, you are delusional. Many people predicted Ehle to win since the opening night of Utopia (which opened way after Butley by the way). Ivey did not deserve the Tony as much as Ehle.

It doesn't count when a person has more than 1.
If it did, 110 in the Shade would win with 6 (Audra: 4, Cullum: 2)
I know. Just FYI. Since it is a rare case with only two actors in the show. "110 in the shade" has far more.
It might win, for say, average number of Tonys per cast member.
The best I could come up with is 3 for the revival of Follies:
Blythe Danner
Judith Ivey
Donald Saddler

OK. I was bored tonight and was trying to find any show with more than four. I couldn't. Three seems to be an easy number to find. But I couldn't even find any more fours besides "Waiting in the Wings," in fact.
A friend of mine thought he had another one -- the short-lived "Enemies" in 1972, which had Barbara Cook, Philip Bosco, Frances Sternhagen and Chistopher Walken in the cast. Except: Walken has never won a Tony (the friend thought he won for "The Rose Tattoo") and Bosco had yet to win a Tony at that point. Same with Sternhagen. So, uh, not even close, bud. But at least I found out that the guy who used to play Mr. Hooper on "Sesame Street" was in it, too!
(I also thought "Camelot" for a brief second until remembering the horrid truth that Julie Andrews has no Tony and that Robert Coote didn't win for "My Fair Lady," either)
So, if there's one with more than four -- or even another with four -- I officially give up on finding it.

Nick & Nora (big flop in 1991)had 3 previous Tony Winners:
Joanna Gleason
Barry Bostwick
Christine Baranski...
and in the 2 years that followed: Faith Prince (1992) & Debra Monk (1993) won Tonys...
a talented cast does not a hit make
