Shows Closing

Is anyone else bothered/surprised/saddened/worried about the number of Broadway shows closing in January '09. Eleven shows have posted closing notices so far and several more shows have already closed during the past few months. Do you think it is a sign of the times?

re: Shows Closing

Yes it's horrible. Previously all shows ran forever. This is just awful.

re: Shows Closing

It is the 70's all over again. And I have heard a rumor that 9 to 5 might not come in.

re: Shows Closing

I assure you that rumor is false.

re: Shows Closing

I have no info on that rumor...but lets face it: I wouldn't be shocked to hear that at least a FEW shows scheduled to come in get cancelled. Disappointed, but not shocked.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

re: Shows Closing

I hope so. But according to breakdown services.. one of the girls is doing a movie which happens to be filming all this May to June in Vancouver. But that does not mean anything. Someone could film for only a day. And Wish.. that means nothing. Times are hard.
