I really like the licensing websites that now give information about upcoming productions, but, it also makes me sad how many shows don't get produced at all.
These shows have no scheduled productions:
As Thousands Cheer
Bright Lights Big City
By Jeeves (I have seen this and would love to see it again)
A Catered Affair (I have seen this and would love to see it again)
Do I hear a Waltz
Floyd Collins
Giant
The Grass Harp
Lady in the Dark
Me and Juliet
Myths & Hymns (I saw this earlier this year)
No Strings
Now. Here. This.
Pipe Dream
2 shows that only have one production scheduled:
One Touch of Venus
The Wild Party (LaChiusa)
I'd say MARY, MARY and FORTY CARATS. I wish someone knowledgeable about those shows would start a thread and share their experiences with them.

Name recognition is a huge part of what shows get produced. If it has a recognizable name (Seussical, Charlie Brown, etc.) it gets more people into those seats.
Any Wildhorn show
Cue the brickbats

Cue the brickbats has an okay score, but the book is a disaster.
Women on the Verge
Scandalous (Are the rights even out yet?)
Did you see Scandalous? It seems the only way to appreciate that show would be to not have actually seen it.
VERGE gained a following and appreciation once the fabulous cast recording was released, leading to a Tony nomination for David Yazbek.
A major revised West end production will be opening next month. I wouldn't write it off as underappreciated yet.
The thread title immediately made me think of One Touch of Venus and the LaChiusa Wild Party.
And I'm more than tempted to trek out to Wooster OH to see ONE TOUCH OF VENUS. That glorious score is unreal. Too bad THE WILD PARTY is in Toronto.
GIANT is another score that baffles me with its amazingness.
It just amazes me that not a single community theater or college is going to be doing any of these shows. Colleges often do shows that no one knows so the students can experience creating a show with no preconceived ideas, so it only takes one professor to be a fan of a show (that is how I happened to see "The Life", and "Little Me"). Community theaters often live off season tickets and can often afford to throw in a good show that no one has heard of and surprise their audience. Let's face it at community theater most of the audience have only heard of a few dozen shows anyway.

Caroline or Change
got tony noms yes but really no one see it for the great musical it really is.
Violet.
Spil.Berg, you should talk to Jordan Catalano about that...
I wish the unsuccessful film adaptation of NINE hadn't set a precedent for how others should feel about the musical. I saw my first live production of the show in March, and I was surprised by how developed the characters were. It's actually a very good piece, in my opinion. Even those who hated the film should give the stage show a chance.
"A Call from the Vatican" has since become an audition staple for me...
At least "Caroline or Change" and "Violet" get some productions. I have seen CorC twice, the last time 2 weeks ago, but there are only 2 productions scheduled in the next year. I missed a local production of "Violet", but saw it on broadway and there are currently 11 scheduled in the next year, better than most show I would guess.
ErinDilly, where did you see CoC? I check the MTI site periodically for productions, but right now they're not listing anything.
