Last month I got my first car for christmas, and i decided that the first Cd that i would listen to in my car would be , ypu you guessed it"RAGTIME" well, Ragtime is just not good driving music, and I said "well what is a good show to drive to?" Well after looking and giving a few a try, i realized that "Thoroughly Modern Millie" is so much fun to drive to!
What other shows make good diving music?
I'll have them clawing at eachother, like drag queens at a wig sale"
Little Shop of Horrors Drowsy Chaperone Dreamgirls (Concert Version)
"In theater, the process of it is the experience. Everyone goes through the process, and everyone has the experience together. It doesn't last - only in people's memories and in their hearts. That's the beauty and sadness of it. But that's life - beauty and the sadness. And that is why theater is life." - Sherie Rene Scott
I was listening to Amour when I got in a huge car accident that caused me not to be able to go to Light in the Piazza at the Ahmanson that night. I still listen to Amour when I drive. It's tinkly.
Although I am not yet a licensed driver, when my sister and I would go somewhere, we would always blast some showtunes in her car. I find that anything that has some songs that you can belt to are fun. In that spirit, I find that shows like Wicked, RENT, Hairspray, Beauty and the Beast, A Chorus Line, Dreamgirls, Mamma Mia!, The Lion King, even Phantom of the Opera can be great driving tunes. But then again, I listen to showtunes whenever possible, so anything will really work for me.
"This is wanting something, this is reaching for it, this is wishing that a moment would arrive. This is taking chances, this is almost touching what the beauty is."
The london revival recording of Evita, what with it's awesome latin beats and rhythms, is awesome driving music. Who wouldn't perk up at hearing Roger's "Buenos Aires" ?
Avenue Q is, IMO, the best road-trip music. Those that know it sing along, and those that don't get a good laugh.
"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
Spring Awakening is nice and mellow, especially when stuck in traffic.
"Chicago is it's own incredible theater town right there smack down in the middle of the heartland. What a great city! I can see why Oprah likes to live there!" - Dee Hoty :-D
Today I listened to "The Witches of Eastwick" on my way to an audition - PERFECT! On the way back I was satisfied with how it went, and put on "Marie Christine" - they were the absolute perfect combination.
THE best song to listen to while driving if you are in a rush is the overture to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Other than that, mostly what other people have said: Jersey Boys and Spring Awakening.
The CD in my car at the moment has the following on it: Various Adam Pascal solo songs Aida CR Cabaret CR Tarzan CR Chess Benefit Concert The Producers movie soundtrack Something else that I can't remember at the moment.
I really need to burn a new CD and spice it up a bit.
