Shubert Organization Theater Refills

Tonight I went to see Fran Leibowitz at Town Hall and got a little chummy with the bartender.

He served drinks in leftover souvenir cups from “Diana.”

He mentioned that at any participating theater you receive a discount on your drink if you bring that same container with you.

It sounds a touch chintzy, but for how much a drink costs at the theater these days, I would consider it.

Since this is a Shubert organization drink container, I would assume it only applies at a Shubert house.

Can anyone here attest to the accuracy of the information?

I must admit it was amusing to see so many “Diana” containers at Town Hall tonight.

I know this was true before covid as I’ve done it myself. Discount was $5 back then (cost of the cup is $5 that’s why they say the refill is “discounted”.)

Back in the fall I recall they stopped doing refills on used cups (they have to give you a new one each time you ordered so no more discount) due to covid protocol but that may have changed now that it’s April.

At Shubert houses, softdrink refills are free. I've never heard that you can use a different Shubert sold cup (i.e., Chicago at Phantom), but I guess it couldn't hurt to try.

ETA*** Shubert discounts other drinks by reducing the "cost" of the cup for the refill.

At Jujamcyn and Harry Potter pre-pandemic, refills were discounted (reduced by the price of the cup). Jujamcyn has stopped doing this but I don't know about Harry Potter.
