Which are better seats at the Shubert Theatre?
Orchestra Row P seats 17 and 19 or Mezzanine Row C seats 5 and 7?

Well I am a mezz girl in general - though I can appreciate really close orchestra seats at times. For these seats, however, I would personally take the Mezz seats because they are much closer to the center of the theater. 17-19 are pretty far on the side.
For MATILDA I would take the seats in the mezzanine. Row P is pretty far back but the mezzanine ensures a nice, clear view of the entire stage.
I agree that mezz C would be a nicer view of the entire stage picture. You will miss the very few moments when the cast comes into the audience orchestra area though - even people in mezz A have to lean forward a bit to see what's going on - but those moments make up such a tiny amount of time in the production that it's not worth getting orchestra level seats for just that. I sat in mezz A side mid-row and mezz B 6-8 and mezz B 6-8 were fantastic seats with such a lovely, perfect view. I'd surmise that mezz C opposite side is similar. Enjoy!

Take the mezz seats. I just saw the show in Orch Row L seat 2 (on aisle). All the coming and going of the cast through the aisles was just people running up and down the aisles - no action (that I can remember) takes place in the aisles that you will miss (don't even bother straining to see it).

I was wondering how the view is from the sides of the rear balcony?
I have tickets in Row J of the balcony, but am not sure if I should just sell them. I have been in this theatre, but only sat in the orchestra. Thanks.
