Anyone know why 2 previews have been canceled? Seems strange..

If you opened up the 15-page-long Shuffle Along Previews thread, you'd see many people discussing the fact that Audra McDonald has been ill the last few days and also something about standbys being unrehearsed until opening night (which seems odd).

Most standbys are never ready before opening night, sometimes not till weeks into a shows run

Because all their focus is going to the actual actors playing the roles. They can't really get understudies up to speed on things that are not set and are still being working out. The same that rehearse the understudies are still needed at "regular" rehearsals.
