I only know her as the model from The September Issue documentary. They hated her hair.
I was hoping for Lindsay as well.

Miller is absolutely perfect casting for Sally. She should be really exciting in the role.
For what it's worth, Todd Haimes said in the Wall Street Journal that the show is closing because they couldn't find an exciting replacement for Alan Cumming:
“[Alan] has become so famous and iconic in the role that nobody of stature wants to take it on, and we did not want to descend into schlock casting, so we decided we’d close on top."

Miller is great as Tippi Hedren in The Girl. An underrated actress for sure. I loved her in American Sniper and makes the most of a small role in Foxcatcher.
I assumed this would at least run into the summer. I'm sure it could have gotten by with a name as Sally and a Broadway actor as the Emcee.

I agree...she's a very good actress but haven't seen her on stage only on film and she was fabulous as Tippi in The Girl!
Has anyone heard her singing voice...thoughts?

No surprise on someone not wanting to follow Alan, certainly not on the level of the film stars for Sally. They could have cast a theatre actor, though Alan has been one of the major draws of the revival.
And interestingly, the men cycling through Hedwig now would either be great or already played the Emcee.
I also think Sienna is great casting.

Posted: 1/8/15 at 9:35amSienna Miller was superb in Terrence Rattigan's FLARE PATH in London a few seasons ago. This is not stunt casting; she's excellent on stage.

She is a big star in the UK she is a big TV star over there she was the big headliner
Flare Path http://www.theguardian.com/stage/2011/mar/13/flare-path-terence-rattigan-review. The irony is that Sheridan won her Olivier Award that year for the same play.

I highly doubt this is the only reason, but even presuming this is true... so you can't get another Alan Cumming. Fine. Do a complete 180. You people managed to slap Michelle Williams into it even though she was basically playing the more glamorous (by comparison) Sally from Hal Prince's production instead, so go the same route with the Emcee. Pick someone big who's more of a Joel Grey type. (I'd almost dare you to bring back Joel Grey himself, were he not 82 and more focused on photography.)
Yes, you'll probably have to restructure a few things. But that's the point of a revival: re-exploring. (Which, clearly, Roundabout wasn't altogether keen to do in the first place, except when they became desperate for a star to replace their first attempt at hiring the replacement.)

g.d.e.l.g.i, I don't understand much of your post. You think Michelle WIlliams was more glamorous than Natasha Richardson and fits the Prince production's vision more than this one? It seems to me WIlliams' Sally was very similar to that of Jennifer Jason Leigh, the last Sally of the original run to get rehearsal with Mendes. And I'd appreciate your restating your final, parenthetical sentence. I have no idea which actress you mean and how Roundabout proved desperate in their actions.
As for my own opinion, I think it's honorable that Roundabout prefers to close the show than run it into the ground with performers they find substandard and whom they doubt would bring in big box office. Grosses were slumping before Stone brought it back to capacity.

'She is a big star in the UK she is a big TV star over there she was the big headliner '
No she really isnt. She is known as a bit of an actress, partying and for dating Jude Law. She is not a 'big' star at all. Flare Path did well for various reasons, it wasnt her alone and it was only then that people started to take her more seriously as an actress.

Glad to explain.

Yes.

I wouldn't know, never having seen Leigh's performance. To me, Williams was Jill Haworth all over.
And I'd appreciate your restating your final, parenthetical sentence. I have no idea which actress you mean and how Roundabout proved desperate in their actions.

Michelle Williams was a second choice. The original star bailed, and they had to scramble to put her in. It's my understanding, and I may be mistaken, that Ms. Stone was the subject of this blind item, and more comfortable replacing than originating. Hence my wording "to replace their first attempt at hiring the replacement."
