I recently attended Silverback Mountain at the AMT theatre on west 45th. The front of the house staff were extremely friendly, and they informed me that that the theatre was an Off Broadway contracted theater with 97 seats. I always thought a theatre with a 99 or under seating capacity was Off-Off-Broadway. Was the theatre approved for Off Broadway status because the seating  was close to 99 seats?

On a side note, Jason Yanto was quite good and he understood the style of the play. If I were a talent agent I would’ve asked to speak to him after the show.

From Playbill:

The distinction generally has to do with theatre size (but not 100 percent of the time). Theatres with up to 99 seats generally are considered Off-Off-Broadway; 99-499 seats generally denote Off-Broadway; and 500 and larger generally denote Broadway. There are many exceptions, however, and some overlap. The real key is what sort of contract the production has.
