Singing in the Rain Revival?

Does anyone think there could be new interest in the upcoming Singing in the Rain Broadway revival now that Debbie Reynolds has passed? In clip after clip on tv the past 24 hours, her iconic "Good Morning" number has been featured very prominently! Also another SiTR Question, was there a 1985 original Broadway cast recording of the show? Or are there only the 1984 OLCR and the 2012 LCR?

yes --- lets capitalize on a woman's tragic death by reviving a musical. SHEESH!!!

JM226, why are you so angry? You chastise Ado on the Debbie Reynolds tribute thread because he questioned the notion of someone dying from heart break. When he clarified he was no longer skeptical you still chose to "jump down his throat".

Now you're going off the rails because someone suggested a renewed interest in the aforementioned "Singin' in the Rain" revival in the wake of Debbie Reynolds' passing.

Again, why so angry?

Singing in the Rain Revival?

I don't think anybody dying produces enough interest to support a Broadway run.

Show the movie for a week or two, maybe. I can see some people wanting to see it again.

I mean no disrespect to Miss Reynolds, whom I always loved. But it's not as if she's going to appear in a revival.

Oh, dear! Gavestonas I would love to see Singin' in the Rain with Drag Queens and Kings playing all the roles. I read Brecht was going to produce such a production, but he died before it could happen!

"

To my ear, that sounds like something Brecht would say (like his famous assertion that Ethel Merman would make the ideal Mother Courage) rather than actually do. But it certainly sounds like fun. (To be fair, Brecht was making a point in saying Merman should play Courage; I just don't think it is something he would have ever done. Certainly not after meeting Merman.)

I just don't think the unfortunate death of Debbie Reynolds would make enough box office difference to insure a successful Broadway run. A revival might succeed, of course, but it won't be because anyone died.

I recently saw a professional stage production and though competent I think it time this classic was put to bed for a loooooooong time.

Watch the movie and just clap where appropriate.
