I really hope the cast is announced this week.
mywonderwa, how is Patina Miller rehearsing this and Lost in the Stars at the same time?
theatreguy, Encores! productions have very short rehearsal periods. I believe they only rehearse a week before.
I'm aware. It seems odd that the producers would have her begin rehearsals, take off 2 weeks to do Lost in the Stars, and then come back. But I also don't see how they need to begin rehearsals 9+ weeks before their first preview.
The official casting calls says "1st rehearsal: 2/7/11"

Yeah, this is way too early for them to be in rehearsal, it's usually 6 weeks before first preview that they start.
Having read the breakdown for Sister Mary Lazarus, I'm just going to say that Lenora Nemetz would be perfect in the role.
And even if Sister Act rehearsals were during Lost in the Stars rehearsals, couldn't they use that time to rehearse the ensemble?
I don't know if Patina Miller is rehearsing yet or not...but, I do know that Victoria Clark is.

I just saw an ad for Sister Act during the Today show. It showed footage of Whoopie in a habit--singing and dancing--which might lead people to believe that she's starring in this production.(?)
Will we ever get an announcement?

I heard that when Angela Lansbury was being pursued for the role that Whoopie offered to do matinees for her. Maybe she & Victoria will split the role.
DAMN. Lansbury was seriously pursued?
I hear they had a table read through this week.
The hysterical John Tracey Egan is involved.
Is there a good role for him?
My first thought is that Egan could play the Monsignor but it's a non-singing role and his great voice would be wasted. Maybe his role is Bones, leader of the bad guy's comedy henchmen. Nic Colicos who played it in the West End is not dissimilar in type.
I think Fred Applegate is playing the Monsignor, anyway.

I think Fred Applegate will be perfect in that role.

I just saw the super Alan H Green in a reading and his bio said he was in the spring's Sister Act.
If they are performing on The View monday, shouldn't a cast be announced today?
My thoughts exactly, ljay.
If it's not announced today, it really will make no sense to me.

Maybe they're planning on announcing it on The View?
Also, Lansbury in that role really would've been something. When was the last time she originated a role in a musical?
Is the entire cast performing, or just Patina?
Their performance on The View has been rescheduled, but the date has not been announced, according to the show's official twitter.

There's been three prior productions of Sister Act...
The BWW article says Whoopi and the cast would be performing.
