Sleepless In Seattle??

Is this necessary?? I'd sooner want a stage adaptation of Mystic Pizza (I am a little tired of screen to stage adaptations but THIS I'd support).

Sleepless In Seattle??

This has been sitting around since 2009, with Leslie Bricusse attached to write the score; who later dropped out. There was a production in 2013 at the Pasadena Playhouse with Chandra Lee Schwartz of Wicked. To have it be 10 years, and constantly falling in and out of possible productions, I'm surprised they haven't given up yet.

I've always thought this movie was a bit overrated and on the boring side for a romantic comedy. There are so many other movies I'd rather see on stage before this.

Sleepless In Seattle??

There was a staged reading of it before the production at Pasadena Playhouse by an entirely different writing team. I saw that and it was horrible. The new writing team and new director solved none of the problems and it was still horrible at the Playhouse. Since then, these people just put out these press releases to try and act like something's going to happen. Obviously, thus far it hasn't. It's possibly the worst idea for a musical ever because the two leads are on opposite sides of the stage for then entirety of the show until the end, they sing about the same things, the songs were awful, there was little humor - I mean, it's Hopeless in Seattle.

And now, it looks like there's a new songwriting team for England? Really? But my favorite thing in this PR BS is:

"Another change is the title. To save money on royalties, the title of the musical has been changed from 'Sleepless in Seattle' to 'Sleepless.'"

Amateurs.

Sleepless In Seattle??

It would be a good fit for the Savoy, Piccadilly or Garrick Theatre (or The Haymarket if Only Fools and Horses closes early), but I think that all the other major venues are occupied. We Brits know of Sleepless in Seattle, but aren't exactly chomping at the bit for a West End version. However, it could get a decent run here...

Hahaha! I was curious in what Brits thought. Thanks for chiming in, BritCrit.

We like Nora Ephron's big three, but we don't really CONNECT to them in the same way that Americans do...
