I'm looking to make a sleepy time CD (nap cd) for the kids ages 4-6 at my work, I need calm relazing music that will put them to sleep. Any suggestions?

Obviously anything with Ethel Merman.

Online I found a song called "Hawaiian Guitar" --- it's like a eukaleile (sp?) -- anyway, it's really peaceful (Check stores like Bed Bath & Beyond... they normally have CDs like that)

I was going to say "Hairspray" re: Sleepy Time CD

Does it have to be Broadway? Can it be Mozart or Beethoven?

I know if I'm listening to music and trying to concentrate on fall asleep, it's almost impossible with words and thats why I suggested what I did.

Just pop in Leonard Bernstein's "Peter Pan." It'll put 'em to sleep real fast!!!

What about the overture from Light in the Piazza? Some of the songs from Light in the Piazza have very soothing melodies.

Are you looking for more kiddie music, though?

How about "Little Lamb" from Gypsy? That's a really quiet song, and it's age appropriate.

I'm Not That Girl from Wicked is somber and decently kid friendly. Children of Eden has some stuff you could probably use. Happiness from YAGMCB? I'll try to think of some more. I love Colin Hanlon BTW!

it doesn't have to be kiddyish it just can't be a lot of cursing, I use LITP now, and was looking for something new, it works though haha.

I find Jamaica Farewell by Harry Belafonte to be a very calming song, it is a bit sad, though. I'd also go with Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven, but again, sad.

I like to listen to "Alone in the Universe" from Seussical.

"Moonshine Lullaby" from Annie Get Your Gun is lovely, especially as sung by Bernadette Peters (not especially nice as sung by Ethel Merman, IMO). (If you don't mind the "jug of moonshine" lyrics.)

"My Best Girl" from Mame is a nice, sweet ballad and might be a good choice.

"Can You Feel The Love Tonight" from The Lion King would make a good nappy song, I think.
