Smash (does not) blow #25
Posted: 2/24/12 at 3:35pmAny show that features musical numbers has to get savaged by this board. I don't know why. I think self-loathing is involved but I'm not a doctor.

I don't get what you're saying, Joe. I wrote that the pilot episode was the best since Modern Family's. I and others thought the Let Me Be Your Star montage was thrilling.
I felt the McPhee karaoke was terrible, not just the song choice but that too, and incredibly substandard compared to the original music.
Is it really that an audience or group has to love everything or it amounts to nothing?

No, no. You're thinking of HBO. That's not TV. It's not PBS, either, though.

Yeah, no. Well, they aren't NOT.

Downtown Abbey (great drag name btw) is more soapy than Smash.
I guess when you add accents and dress it up like a low rent Merchant/Ivory production people get fooled into thinking its "culture".

settles in? Its lost 40% of its viewership in 3 episodes. So you probably wont get those people back. and they are at 8 million now. So if you lose ANY more you are below what you say is "good" for NBC. Its also right after the VOICE. so many those people who watched the voice are tuning in and then after 30 min of SMASH they are turning the channel.
If THE VOICE wasn't on before it this show would be dead.

Who Hash on Smash? #40
Posted: 2/25/12 at 8:46pmSo, in the next episode of Smash, Julia and Michael are going to open a bistro for theater-goers and serve them hash made out of ass? Well, that is just wrong.

Yes, let's have Mrs. Lovett join the cast and make ass-hash pies out of Ellis because he keeps stealing the ass-hash-pie recipe and needs to learn a lesson.
